So...my latest constant mistype is to sign..kc..instead of ..jc..
No..you probably haven't seen it..'cause I keep fiximg it..
Along with a bunch of other mistypes.
( I know..I still miss a lot of them..:-) :-)
The topic is...Prednisone.
Some of ya may remember way back when I got on it..
My hands were making typing so difficult, I was using speach-typing..
Well..due to new dx..I'm having to lower it even more than very low dose...
And will likely have to get off it altogether...
And, so begins the mistypes, dropping things, unsteady on feet...
( prednisone worked wonders for pain in palms and soles)
Anyone else benefitted from prednisone in a big way..then unable to take it?
Oh, well..every time I mistype..kc..I think of KC and the Sunshine Band..
And remember a half a minute in the seventies when I went...brace yourselves...disco!,, GASP. ( I'm an old time rocknroller at heart..:-) :-)
Everybody..go on and dance if you want to...:-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
Hugs

I know this is stupid, but after not being able to find a job after graduation for almost two years, I ended up just taking an online teaching job because I couldn't find anything in my field. I was trying to get out of teaching and I feel so devastated. I felt this crushing feeling when I signed the paperwork and when I was in the meetings. I know that sounds so dramatic but it is how I felt. It...

Tomorrow is National Massachusetts Day!Have you ever lived in or visited Massachusetts? If so, tell us what's great about the Bay State!

(even if you did used to disco)
I succumbed too. Looking back I can't believe it. I never even liked it... but I guess when in Rome.....
I've been prednisone-dependent for over 17 years. I was on high doses (80mg/day) when I was pregnant and post-partum. Now I'm feeling the awful side effects- osteoporosis, multiple rib fx and a compression fx of LSpine. Teeth falling out and breaking off, multiple cavities and broken teeth (some due to Plaquenil no doubt).
And of course, the massive weight gain. I gained 80lbs while pregnant, lost about 10 then added about 80 more. I've lost 70 lbs since weaning it down to 5mg/day, but I have about 80 more to lose. At least I'm starting to see my cheekbones again. Never thought I would.
It's a wonder drug in some sense, it saved my life on numerous occasions (during flares of lupus pneumonitis and pulm emboli). But the side effects can be deadly as well.
I've heard Benlysta is very effective for getting off prednisone and controlling symptoms. Has your dr. mentioned it? it doesn't seem like a lot of drs are using it- I'm not sure why. Maybe it's a regional thing?
Sorry you have to wean your prednisone- but you will be thankful in the end. I'm still on 5mg/day, more for RSD than lupus right now. It's a dose that doesn't give you side effects (so they tell me).
