Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Millie I am so sorry this happened.
Do wonder why the drug pump...I thought the scs was working for you. Excuse my memory but that's what I thought....just wondering why you are going with the drug pump. When you get over the broken ankle.
(what awful luck Tipper I'm so sorry this happened to you)
Hope you are asleep right now
I am so sorry. I posted this to David's thread.
I missed that you wante it bumped.
Please forgive my stuipd mistake.
But glad that I actually help by accident and no one else got HURT!
HEY! Guess that makes me the BIG hero today!
NOT!!!! LOL!
Anyway, listen well to your docs! Mine didn't heal correctly and way to slowly, and it still aches on rainy days. BUT, I didn't get RSD in it, which was my doc's biggest worry as my LEFT foot has RSD. I found it difficult to stay off my foot with a baby to look after and I can't manage crutches, so I only made it worse. If you're able, really try to do as the doctor says. I wish I had tried harder.
Meanwhile, get some trashy magazines, your favorite beverage and foods, and snuggle with your dog on the couch with your foot up. It'll ache for awhile but it'll heal. It sucks, I know.
Kudos to your neighbors! Ours are so mean they would've left me there!
Good luck!
Ideas about trashy magazines...add some bon bons...elevate elevate elevate! And also one more thing. I got a scooter for around the house for my chronic pain. I got it because I can't take care of myself...fix dinner/food, etc. And I know you can't get one because of your foot but what about your other complaints? If your pain (the chronic one) is keeping you from life skill activities you can get one. If not you can rent them for about 100/week...not sure if insurance will pay for that.
And a more plausable idea......they have walkers with a place to put your knee...that sounds like what you need! Alot easier to get than a scooter for your foot. Insurance might pay for that..especailly since you are a fall risk (not a dig there..just what you would need to say to get ins. to pay for it...and for now it's true). With ins. it's all in how you present it. I wish we all could really be closer...have you ever heard of 'rent parties' where people would throw parties to raise rent for whoever needed it that month...well we could have a 'walker party' and chip in and get one with the knee rest for you. I checked google..one ad was for a starting price of $189. Maybe yours could be modified to add the knee thing....? If you have a medical supply place that sells scooters, some of them make things for you and maybe could modify yours. My medical supply place made me a special cushion for my back/bottom. It was two cushions for but bones and glued to a bottom cushion so neither my under or back side have to touch the chair. Also they cut a whole in the back of my chair so my spine doesn't get pressurized. The whole goes all the way up to the top. If anyone wants more details (like this post isn't long enough! :) msg me.
I type and think at the same time. Sorry to be so talkative.
Again so sorry to hear Millie :(
Lots of prayers for you hon.
Cindy ((Hugs))
Yoh are getting all kinds of great advice from caring friends. I just wanted to drop by to let you know that I too am thinking about you. I know it's rough being immobile and about now you begin to go stir crazy. Just keep your mind occupied with stuff and you will be fine. Reaching out to your friends is good too! We enjoy hearing from you. So hang in there! Hugs, Cathy
