I guess I owe all of you an apology. It's been a while since I posted because it's been awhile since I have been well. I am still struggling with the loss of mobility so it's very hard to read for any length of time. I have also had multiple breathing issues since the surgery. After I was in the hospital for pneumonia I still had trouble breathing and the doctor put me on an extended dose of steroids, which I am now on my 3rd dose. For some reason my left lung is still very tight. I will call my doc tmro since the pulmonologist I had seen really doesn't seem to be too interested in treating me. I trust my doc and will see what she has to say. I really am extremely depressed. Being on oxygen is not fun. At least I graduated to nighttime only.
Again I check the journals and posts every so often as you are all on my mind but right now it is taking its toll just writing this little bit.
I love all of you and will be back as soon as I am able. I wish all of you low pain days.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

After a long history of smoking.
I was wondering if they have instructed you to do some breathing exercises at home like incentive spirometry.
Also, has anyone done pulmonary function tests on you since you got out of the hospital?
I have faith that you will heal, it will just take some time.
I believe you would greatly benefit from having a proactive pulmonologist who will have some good suggestions for rehab.
Hang in there! You are brave.
Perhaps you could get an appointment with a different Pulmonologist. If yours is not pro-active it may be time to move on. I have to do the Spirometry every hour. Worth asking your PM about.
Thinking of you and praying for a quick recovery.

Being on Oxygen AND steroids is not fun! I would be a mess!
I too had pneumonia Diagnosed about 10 days ago.
I have asthma too so within 24-36 hrs. of having an asthma flare, I was in the CCU intubated.
I have since been getting day by day. I have been told that it is hard enough eliminating pneumonia in a healthy person. It is even longer with anyone who has asthma/other conditions too. :(
Soooo,
I have been resting. I took 2 weeks off my work. I will go back tomorrow on Levaquin-antibiotic, steroids and nebulizer treatments.
BTW: the steroids have messed with my emotions too. Ask your primary doc about something to ease your depression while you are recovering.
All I have been doing is resting. (not easy on my part). I will say I feel better today doing nothing.
I hope your lung tightness improves and you can get rid of the Oxygen too!
(((hugs)))

It must be hard to get here due to the movements of getting the words on the page. If you have a smart phone it might have a speak program. That would help. If you are on FB and message me your screen name I will add you and star you. It is easy to chat there and post pics and even though I am not a big fan I would do it for you because you rock.
Beyond that I am sending you my number PM. I am really bummed your recovery is taking time and causing you extra worry. 6 months of smoke free should have cleared you for complications. Personally I am proud of you and think you have done it all right.
Hang on and and keep the faith. Only you know your body and if your feel you need to see a different doc go for it. I know you respect your surgeon. The surgery your had I think is going to take some time to heal. Be kind to you.
Sorry I haven't come in sooner.
love and peace
