Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

So this week has been completely crazy. My mom was sent to the hospital after collapsing at my parents house. We later found out she had had a heart attack. A CT scan showed multiple blood clots in her lungs, as well as one in her right leg. We also discovered her aorta has a leak in it, although the doctors are not too worried about that at the moment. She has been bedridden since Saturday. Today was her first day of being allowed to walk. She is still shaky, and she is being sent to assisted living for a week or so until she can get around better. It has been very scary, as they originally thought it was congestive heart failure.
Went to my pain management doctor, that was bad all around. My doctor did not seem to understand that with all the stress, I'm in a horrible pain flare up. On Tuesday night I felt terrible, had chest pain and a hard time breathing. My BF took me to the ER, where I found out that I have Pleurisy. If any of you have ever had that, you know how terrible the pain is.
I'm currently on more NSAIDS to kill the pleurisy before it gets worse. I go to see my PCP first thing tomorrow and will, hopefully, be cleared to return to work on Monday.
It just feels like life hates me so much right now. Had a complete breakdown on Wednesday. Just laid with my BF and cried for hours. He was freaked out because I never cry. I just couldn't help it. Woke up with a headache from h*ll this morning, but other than that I felt much better. Still stress beyond belief, but hopefully all will work out.
Sorry about the rant, I just need some support if possible.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

I am so sorry for you, your Mother and your health. Pleurisy hurts!!!
Your doctor failed to understand when we are stressed pain levels go up. For this I am truly overwhelmed for you and thankful you have an understanding boyfriend.
You have my support,
Joannw
anyway I hope your stress levels off and you feel better soon...hugs bill
I'm so sorry you're going through all of this and I totally understand as I am dealing with some of the same issues with my dad being really ill and taking care if him. Today we went to the doctors office twice for the same issue and he's recuperating from surgery and other issues than your mom, but the stress will take it's toll and make your pain much worse.
And pleurisy on top of that, I can't even imagine. Please take care of yourself and vent away. I'm ready to shoot myself so I feel for you.
Hugs,
Mary Ellen
Sending prayers up for you. Hugs, Dianna
I'm really glad you have a supportive boyfriend and was able to have a good cry, some times thats all you can do, then pick yourself up and start the battle again. Try not to forget to look after yourself and get as much rest as you can. Take care and let us know how you and your mum are going when you can.
Wish there was something I could say to make things better. Just wanted to say I'm sorry for what you are going through, you are in my thoughts and I hope things only get better for you.
Hugs!
Gkad to hear Your Mom's on the mend.
Of COURSE you broke down and cried..
You're have to be a little nuts not to feel bad under the circumstances.
Pleuresy is horrid. Pain with breathing just feels so...inescapable.
Hope you're on the mend soon.
Hugs

I have a feeling that once I'm back at work my stress will even out. Or I won't be worried about money, at least.
I will update after the doctor. Hoping it will be news I want to hear lol.
(((((((((((((( ))))))))))))))))))) I am keeping you and your mom in my thoughts and I will say a prayer for both of you today. I am sorry that your mom suffered a heart attack. It sounds like she has made great strides since it happened and I will keep her in my thoughts that things continue to progress so that she can heal. It is absolutely normal to become upset the way you did and I am glad you have a supportive boyfriend to help you. Pleurisy is very painful and I am sorry you are dealing with that in addition to everything else. What you are going through is very overwhelming and if there is anything I can do please let me know. I am here to support you, listen, and I have a shoulder you can cry on as well. (((((((((((((((gentle hugs))))))))))))))))))))

I had pleurisy a few years back. A month in the hospital and 2 chest tubes and 1 had to stay in for 2 more months. Still flares up to this day when bad weather hits.
I'm glad you could share this, since letting it out helps. Rant as much as you need too, that's what we are all here for. Great people supporting great people. Comforting Hugszz, Blaine
So long story short: My pleurisy is flaring, but we caught it early (already feeling better with the steroids), and I have been having a panic attack for about a week (on and off.)
He did offer me anxiety meds, but I want to wait until all the dust settles before I get them. No sense being on more meds than I need to be. Now that I know what that scary feeling is, it isn't so bad. I just try to stop and do some deep breathing when it gets crazy. With the holidays just around the corner I feel that that will be pretty often lol. If its still out of control come Monday, then I will pick up a script for Xanax.
Thanks to everyone again for letting me vent, it is kind of a scary, helpless place to be. Now I know that my mom is going to be ok (as ok as she ever gets, anyway) and that I am ok.
Now to just cuddle under some blankets, get some hot cocoa, and watch Silence of the Lambs. I have a strange way of calming down.
