Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
I'm in too much pain to be proactive so I'm really stuck.
Like I told you at the other group, the Fentanyl patch (at least my experience), starts working and you can feel the effect after a few hours, I am on the 100 Mcg which is much, much stronger, but it is actually working for me. My PM Doc always told me to give a medication at least 2 weeks to see if it works, of course if the medication was causing me nausea, or anything major; like Cymbalta once did, he will take me off it inmmediatley.
The work that you do is very, very taxing in the body, my hair dresser is 68 years old, and has a chair in her living room, and only takes a few very dear friends, since she has all kinds of issues, maybe this is what you are going to have to do. Teresa, my hair dresser, gets social security disability, food stamps, and with her "living room salon", she gets the extra cash for odds and ends. When a Doctor ask you to leave your job, is because the pain is becoming too much, so I know that is not easy to leave a job that you love, but if is affecting your life and pain, then is time to hang your gloves, and say "the Doctor is right". I am a social worker but there's no way that I can sit in an office for 8 hours, and do home visits, take the stress, etc., so now I work 3 days a week, 6 hour days doing wedding planning for a good friend of mine that owns a very succesful flower shop. The job allows me to earn a few bucks, since social security disability is not enough, and I get to get out of the house, get dress, put make-up on, and feel useful, instead of the first 3 years of these roller coaster call pain, that I was at home, depress and hopeless.
I hope that the patch is working for you, and that you can get trained to do something besides hair dressing.
Hugs,.
Sending gentle comforting hugs and warm smiles for you,
take care... Gaye... xxx
Cherry, if you ever need anyone to talk to at anytime, I am always here to listen and to help support you in any way I can. Just add me as a friend if you wish and I promise to help you through these difficult times. I've been there and know what you are going through. I hope your pain level lessens and that God lifts you up today. Take care and God bless,
Chapin
I can't take most IV meds. They cause allergic reastions. But the same orals work fine. There are so many other things in meds that can effect how much med you get.
Just my two cents.
Hope you find some relief.
Hugs honey, I pray the answer will come soon

My doc has wanted me to stop this type of work since I started seeing her over 3 years ago. Now, with my recent rotator cuff tear, it's become a necessity. Everything else is getting worse by the day.
My hope is toeventually be able to keep a few clients/friends and do their hair at my home...a smaller one than I own now!
Dear Lord, Please give Cherry the strength and support she needs during this painful time in her life. Please provide her with the knowledge and power needed to reorganize her life so that she can remain productive and find the help she needs. Send her friends to lift her up and rally around her. Amen.
Peace,
Pinky
After taking my third vicodin, my pain has subsided a bit. Of course, I'm feeling a bit dizzy, too. Lately, when working, I've snipped my fingers a few times becaue the pain is such a distraction. At this time, it isn't even safe for me to continue, but I still have to take care of a few people even though my doc ordered a stop to it.
I just spoke with my oldest son and nailed down the apartment he has available. It's on the ground floor and big enough for me and my little, furry entourage. This will allow me to slowly empty my house. I'll take what I really want to keep and not overload the apartment (right).
My co-worker is planning to leave in early August so during that time, I'll do a few clients, if I can, and sort through the mess that I've called home for 10 years.
I'm kind of sad about leaving the home I've come to love, but the simplicity I have planned for the next phase of my life is comforting to imagine.
Thanks you all for the kind words of support,
Cherry
