Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

Today we're having your choice of eggs, bacon and ham. There are also muffins, breads and croissants. There are home fries and mashed potatoes, roast beef, fresh fruit, green and pasta salads. We also have fettucini alfredo and pizza slices. We also have a dessert table with your choice of single-bite treats; sugar-free included.
(I'm mimicking one of my favorite brunches at an Italian restaurant I used to go to ages ago!)
It is another pleasant day here. I need to do some household chores (ugh) and cooking (yeah!) then I hope to get a brief walk outdoors.
I thought I'd be in more pain today. I went to the Y yesterday and rode a bike. I haven't been on a bike or to a health club for eons. The bikes were the ones used for spinning. I got on (finally) and as I started pedaling, it was very difficult and I heard this scraping noise. A guy who was doing free weights came over and said the bike was backed up against the cinderblock wall and moved the bike for me.
I had my Kindle and there wasn't a stand, but I saw this little lever-like thing, so I used that to try to hold my Kindle. When I started back up pedaling, it felt like I was riding through wet cement. That was the GEAR adjustment. LOL! I had bumped it up to 10. I got that straightened out and rode for 20 minutes before I was tired.
I had also spent a good deal of time walking around at Walmart prior to going to the Y. I was good and tired last night.
I guess that's a start. It was the first time I'd really done any serious exercise after my hip replacement. The Y has an aqua arthritis class during the week, so I think I will go to that.
Oh, and the daffodils I bought at Trader Joe's? Lovely. In full bloom. Sadly, they are aggravating my allergies. I will have to give them to my downstairs neighbor. :( I also noticed problems around Valentine's Day when I had some roses in here. That makes me very sad. I just LOVE flowers. Oh, well. I can have some in containers on my balcony when the weather gets warm...
Anybody else have increasing problems with allergies as they got older? I think my mom did, so maybe it's hereditary?
I hope everybody has a pleasant and low-pain day!
(((HUGS!)))
Brunch is lovely Clover. Mouth watering for some home fries and eggs over easy. After all it is virtual food. No calories .
Clover have to say I might have given up at the start with the difficult and grinding noise. Good for you to carry on! Then the setting. I bet you got a very good workout. The water exercise will be the kindest to your joints in regards to arthritis. The spin on cycle you will just have to see. I know we have to move. I walk in water and outside in good weather when I can.
I am in recovery mode from Extreme Overnight. That is what my three granddaughters call an overnight with their Nana. I have pink highlights which will be shampooed out by the end of the day. I have red hair so the pink sort works but not. What happens at Nana's stays at Nana's . Cupcake wars this morning so I guess we could add cupcakes to the menu. This will take a week to recover from.
I am scheduled for the beginning of RFA for two levels in my cervical facets on Tuesday afternoon. This is the part where medicine is injected under a fluoroscope into the ares where the nerves will be burned. Then if I have up to 50% reduction in pain it is a go for the RFA.
Looking forward to hearing from others.
hippy

This week will be busier than normal for me. I have a dental appt tomorrow then Wednesday one with my rheumatologist for results and more of those let's see what else you have tests. Not looking forward to that one as it is very early morning and I live 2 hours away.
JC - I am really feeling for you. If I could hand you one of my spoons I would, immediately. I hope your day improves eventually after a good coffee and Clover's brunch.
Clover - I haven't had a croissant in ages. Maybe a slice of pizza too. I do love pizza. I love your experience on the bike. Funny storey. 20 minutes - well done and can't wait to hear how the aquatic pool goes.
Morning Hippy - you sure are having some fun lately. Sorry that your not feeling well now though. Those adorable grandkids might colour your hair like a rainbow next time! if you add Cupcakes to the menu I'll take 1 or 2 please.
I had better get ready for work. Will take a good while to do so.
Hugs to all

Jc- thanks for starting our thread. I am sorry to hear that you are still dragging. Rest-Rest-Rest!!!!
Clover- glad you got the Y membership. I understand they have some wonderful programs. Thank you for brunch. I will take a sample of all! LOL Great job with the bike! Take is slow so you can build up.
Hippy- sounds like the grandchildren had a great time. I envision cupcake wars to be like a good food fight. Hope the kids are old enough to do the clean up. :)
I am sure you need rest. My doctors talked to me about doing the RFA. If you go for it, would like your opinion on it.
Melissa- sounds like a busy week. Hope when you are done they will have given you some pain relief.
Nessa- Hope you have a good work day and an even better evening.
Bill- so glad you have 2 students today. Awesome. Funny I went to the first KISS concert in St. Louis, just a few years ago :) Hope you get to the Who concert, that would be cool.
Hope you keep feeling better.
My husband was determined to go to the Norman Rockefeller Art Exhibit. We made it through Norman's exhibit, but both of our pain levels were too high. We can catch the other parts of the museum another day. It is nice that they have improved the downtown. The Art museum is next to the Children's museum; they have outdoor seating over looking the river. A play ground far enough away to keep the noise out of the Museum. Today they had a live band outside. It was maybe 65 degrees with a nice breeze. They have done a very nice job.
Now I am grabbing my ice pack and finding a quite place.
Hugs-RJ
They had some great music though come to think of it...I did not pay any attention to the music that day as I was so busy with getting high with whoever wanted to smoke dope with me...and chasing thru all that string everywhere,...LOL
Boy talk blast from the past...LOL :0)
Hi Melisa. Sorry you have to get up so early to go to your doctor's appointment, but I hope it goes well. I need to find a rheumatologist. I know that a person in this group suggested that. I just haven't followed up yet.
Nessa, hope you have a good day at work. Do you know the actress, Ashleigh Brewer? She's on my favorite soap. I think she's so pretty -- like a young Elizabeth Taylor.
RJ, that sounds like a fun and interesting afternoon. Yes, keep the kiddies at bay!
Bill, OMG! The Who was my very first rock concert back in December 1975 at Kemper Arena.. We ate pot brownies. I had a HUGE crush on Roger Daltrey. He was wearing a white leather lace-up short top that had long sleeves with lots of fringe. I thought it was SOOOOooo cool, especially the lights during "Won't Get Fooled Again." LOL. Interesting, I actually met RD about 12 years later -- quite by accident. The Who played here with The Pretenders and after the show, we all went to the Westin Crown Center to try to get a glimpse of the band (us and about 200 others...) It was too crowded and I was wearing ankle-strap shoes that were wobbly. Somebody shoved me and I started to fall, when another person caught my arm and said, "Miss, are you OK?" OMG, it was ROGER DALTREY!!! I have no idea what I said to him, but anyway, WOW!
Ashleigh Brewer the one who plays Ivy in Bold and the Beautiful. She is gorgeous. You're right - very Elizabeth Taylor. I like that she still has her accent in the show. I haven't watched for a while. But during work hollidays I do.
