Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Now if your mom is your guardian she has the responsibility to get you care. If you went to the doctor and he didn't listen to your complaints and do some tests then he is wrong. If he did and found nothing then maybe your mom is right and you are imagining things. But in that case you need to be seeing a therapist to work on your problems.
If you complain every day for years that you are in pain 24/7, it's natural for people (yes, even mom) to tune you out.
I recommend to you that you stop complaining of pain, EVEN IF YOU ARE IN PAIN. After a year or two of no pain complaints, your pleas for relief just may be heard. Remember the story of the boy who cried wolf. You don't want to be treated like he was, so give it a rest.
You can come here to tell US of your pain and we will listen.
Did you start to complain after your friend got sick. I know you said your mom is your legal guardian and if you need one at your age then there is probably an issue and if that is the case maybe she has some merit I know when we think of something enough we will actually believe it. You may actually feel the pain and I think you may want to sit down and really consider it may be in your head if nothing else to rule it out if that is the case.
Maybe not complain for a few months and then tell her she may take you more seriously and take you in to the doctor and then have him run some test and go from there as she already thinks this and is not going to change her mind. So use that to your advantage somehow.
Just a thought.
I really hope you can find someone who can help you. It's awful to be alone with no one believing our pain.
I send you a warm loving hug,
Ama
If you have pain and your mom wont let you get the medical help you need the best thing for you to do is call the women's crisis center in Louisville. the phone 502-581-7200. They are there 24/7 to talk with you anytime. If your moms not giving you the care you need then please call them. You had mentioned on the last post for your new years resolution was to call them and get help. Please Get It Before Its Too Late. Hugs 2 U
Please go be seen by a doc.... are you over 18 yrs old? (Your profile says you're 22) you dont need your mom to believe you. You are legally an adult @18.
Good luck hun... I hope you feel better!
I was a social worker for many years and guardianship does not give your mother the right to neglect your medical care. And that's what she is doing, neglecting you. Now, she can make certain medical decisions for you but the state can ALWAYS intervene if a doctor says that those decisions are not in your best interest.
Even without your mother you can still go to the doctor. Call them, make an appointment, have a friend take your or get a taxi, and go. Then go from there. I think you might be a little confused as to how guardianship works. It has even less restrictions on you than when you were a minor and your parents were legally responsible for you.
If you feel like you need healthcare and your mother isn't getting you the help you need (physically or mentally) then the terms of the guardianship need to be changed. You should be coming up for review soon anyway since guardianship doesn't last forever and can eventually be removed. You were placed there because the courts determined that your mother could make the decisions for your livelihood better than you could. If you feel like she's not then this needs to be brought to someone's attention.
Rather than calling the women's crisis center I would call your social worker. (You do have one, even if you might not know it.) You can also call APS-Adult Protective Services.
Not only was I social worker for many years but, like you, I live i Kentucky so I have a good understanding of how our system works.
It sounds like if she keeps on saying no you are not in pain then you are not and she does not have to deal with it. I have kids and if one of them was in pain and even if I thought they were making it up I would take them to the doctor and have every test to man and then even then I would not say that to them.
So that is why I ask as she is not acting like she should
