Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
I was in the same boat...and I spent my entire "good" energy trying to fight through the day at work. When my work day ended, it was all I could do to get home and make dinner and take a bath and go to bed in agony!!
I chose to not work anymore---and, no, I am not wealthy. I had to take a leap of faith because I was feeling the same way.
I don't know your situation...but, if you could find a way to maybe work 3 days a week instead of 5 or something similar...save some of your energy for healing and rest. Do you have short term/long term disability? Can you give up some things and live on one income if you are married? Can you make some other adjustments to your life in order to focus on your health and well being more??
I don't know hon...those are just thoughts. I hope you are able to find what you need and get it.
HUGS and SUPPORT to you my friend
I know that you have been here for some time, and you know how things work, and I hope I'm not insulting you.
I wish you nothing but the best and I hope to see you posting more.
David.
dave, not to worry I dont get insulted easily!
I love to clean! Now I look at the dust and KNOW exactly how bad it will hurt to clean it all and how long it will take before I feel well enough to eat again. That strips the pleasure from the clean house.
Add to that, some mean woman is purposely making my one outing each week misrable! I did not go last week. I am so down today! I am really wondering what use it is to live each day.
Sorry, that is not a lot of encouragement for you. Just know you are not alone. Reading your post made me feel like finishing out today.
Maybe tomorrow will be better.
Praying for you my friend
I managed to do 3 loads of laundry, then I had to sit and read for the rest of the night. I just need to accept my pain, i guess.
I get up about 5 ish and check in on my computer, help my mom change her dressings and take her blood sugars and sometimes, I will make breakfast. Then....off to bed for a two hour nap because the meds make me so tired and I hurt from my morning.
I get up and do some housework, take a bath and then back to bed for an hour or so and I will read or watch a movie. Then, back up and it is usally time for lunch. I eat lunch, take my afternoon meds and head out the door for any activities like shopping or what not. Then, back home and to bed. I usually sleep on this one too for about an hour.
Then, up again...it is about 4 pm...I take more meds and cook dinner, hang out with my kids (cuz now they are home and awake--teenagers!) and we may get my scooter out and go to the park or drive around he shopping center and looky loo.....then home and I am in bed for the night usually by 7 or 8 and asleep by 10 after taking more meds.
I cannot be up for more than 2 or three hours tops...and that depends on what meds I have just taken. I hurt too bad from moving around and from sitting and I cannot stand and and and and and ......bleck!
I just do the best I can and I go to therapy and go to my doctors appts. and I try and get some exercise in everyday....My body is not a very happy place to be and I just try and live in it the best I can.
As for your husband not being too happy....you know, for better or worse...that is all anyone can ask...but, if you need to maintain hours for insurance---totally understandable. Also, if you have short or long term disability-----that will maintain your insurance and give you a percentage of your salary while you are off ....It might be worth checking into more fully if you have it.
HUGS my friend
acceptance come with time , come here and talk more read our stories that migth tell you a lot about aceeptance . you morn your losses then get on with life .hugs minnie ps keep pain jornial you migth need it if you have to file disablity number one tool
I think I make more pt than I would get on dis, from what I hear. I could sign up for fmla, if I need to take a day off here and there?
super, so you take short term meds like me? Im taking oxy like every 3 hrs, just seems like it reminds me that I have a pain disorder each time I take it? ya know?
I can handle the pain what I can not handle if the emotions that come with it. I try to find something that will make me feel some sense of happiness and to look forward to something. I dont have all the answers I guess if I did I would not be in the same boat but what I am trying to do is push myself by lighting candles(scents give me uplifts for some reason) and picking up my sewing and doing a bit everyday, like today I made myself a deal I can go take a nap after I clean my sewing room with the hope that getting in there will trigger something.
I know it is hard but find something, take a walk, go visit grandbabies or take a mini vacation. Maybe the hope of another surgery and the break from work will do the trick, it is extreme but if the doctor thinks this will help maybe it will.
I do love to make soap, but need to do some shows, but cant seem to get myself to do it.I dont really have much money for fabric, but enjoy that also. We are going to sturgis in August, but dont feel too excited about it, as riding the bike( we will be trailering it) hurts me extremely, my daughter went on a ride and also hurt, so I think my hubby may be getting me a new seat! I will see gyn after vac to see what she advises about my adhesions. thanks.
I hate to say this, I know it is bad to do but when I am really really down, I go shopping. I buy something totally usless that just makes me feel better. Today I bought new makeup to wear.
I also wear jewlery every day. I hate putting it on but it makes me feel pretty all day long.
Shoot, hope you are not a man. I did not read your profile before I wrote. SOrry if I messed up.
Makeup and jewlery would not be too good for a man.... unless like tipper you take after Lady Gaga... LOL
I know where you are and I understand. I have not accepted my pain yet either. I don't know how. I guess I feel if I accept it , it becomes more real and permanent. Does that make sense?
Sorry I am not much help but I am here if you need me.
Hugs
Kallie
I've been seeing you here for quite some time, and like you say, you come, you post and help others, but very rarely do you post for you. Maybe like Duckie said, you need to have more YOU time. It sounds like you are going through the motions, working, pain pills, do house work to be there for your family, but what do you do for you?? Think about that............
I am sending angels to give you the wisdom and time that you need, to start taking having some YOU time.
Big Hugs,
Tipper
