I have a big gashing pusing head wound overnight and the doc didn't even culture it. I thought I had mersa because my sister has it, so I was all scared. My legs have been all swollen too, so they did a doppler. Everything is good. So thanks for no blood clots... But mother EFFER I had to wait forever, by myself, until my friends came. My family didn't even care. So I guess I have to take two antibiotics a million times a day for the head wound. I also have two large lumps on my butt (sorry for TMI) and they really hurt and I wanted them lanced, but they wouldn't. They just told me to use a hot compress 4 times a day for 40mins... When in the hell do I have that kind of time?!

as far as the lancing I'd go to your own doctor for that as its not a er type thing to do unless you don't have a PCP.
I'd call your doctor in the morning and see what he can do with your pain levels, and to get other things taken care of, I know your pressed for time but its really the only option that I see working.

I'm surprised that the ER didn't culture your wound- especially with the fact that your sister has MRSA.
Do you have any other hospital you can go to? I'm pretty lucky- I live in NJ just outside of Philadelphia and I'm spoiled because i have a lot of choices in health care facilities.
If you can find another hospital to go to, I'd keep a close eye on the wound and then go to another ER if it doesn't start healing.
Did they give you any instructions on how to care for it? You need to cleanse it with sterile water or a wound cleanser (you can find one at the drug store). Use some bacitracin or triple antibiotic ointment on it and cover it with a sterile dressing. That will keep it safe from other contagions.
As for your butt problems, I have to agree with Tori. You need to go to your primary care dr. for something like that. It's not something the ER can just add-on to do. Plus, do you really want that ER to lance them? They'd probably do more harm than good.
I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. As a former ER nurse, i'm always saddened when I hear stories like these. And I hear so many of them!
