Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

situation' good pain management is the answer, and of course antidepressents or CBT counseling can help clinical depression.
I'm sure you know all about that and also that Cymbalta is being toted as fixing both. But the side effects on tv scare me! The drug interactions too! And I do take 10mg amitriptaline (elevil) for pain which, btw, doesn't help, but I take it because it helps me sleep through the night. Careful...docs are toting Benzos for muscle pain and anxiety. Addicting is REAL BAD! so careful of those.
However I think maybe you need to chat with a friend, get a hug...even a virtual one?
(((( u ))))
Take care.
I have no real words of wisdom, but experience. It's only been
2 years, 6 months, and 20 days since my life was changed forever from a car accident. I have had times as a grown man sitting alone and just crying. Nobody knows but me and you, (and the world wide web, oh well). I have stages of letting this vicious cycle get me down, but so far it will not win.
I believe in God and I read the Bible and journal every day. Thank you for sharing your feelings and if you ever want to talk let me know. I got a lot of stuff going on right now, but I always have time for others.
David.
Now, I sleep way too much, (at least 10 to 12 hours a night), with a little help from medication. Yes, I have depression, and I take Cymbalta. There are a lot of anti-depressants out there to try. My advice to you: talk to your Doctor about your feelings, you probably need a little pill to help you enjoy things again. When your hobbies become a chore then you know something is not right.
What you describe sounds like depression to me, and it's very understandable. Your life has changed a lot.
BIG HUGS, and take care.
I have been there for years at a time. It is a vicious cycle and what you said about not doing or doing... makes no difference. That is what I went through for 7 years. Accupuncture and some klonopin is helping me have some better days.
But I know about waking up and not feeling like I could do one thing and didn't want to anyway.
I am sorry for the way that you feel, but I can tell you that most of us have been, or are there right now, so we understand. What is your condition? Do you have a concrete diagnosis? If you do, is there anything that they can do for you, to make your life bearable?? I think that you need to talk to your GP, and tell him about the depression, maybe he can give you something that will help you out.
I told my GP that I was depress, and he added Amytriptiline 100 Mg's at bed time, and that pill has not only worked on my depression, but it also helps me sleep, so I kill two birds with one shot.
Call your Doctor tomorrow and explain to him or to his nurse what's been going on, and accept any help that they can provide for you. Take care, and I hope that you get the help that you need soon.
Hugs,
Take a nature walk in a park you have not been before. If budget allows it take a weekend get away to a favorite place it does not need to be expense. Even getting a hotel room for a day or two by a outlet shopping center is fun and can boost you up a little.
I have heard this same story from many recently. I wonder if it is something in the atmosphere.
You are just starting on this journey of chronic pain. Any time life changes drastically it causes stress. When the changes are not under our control that adds stress. Add to that the fact that doctors, who are supposed to be able to "fix" things, have no idea what is wrong which adds even more stress.
That is a lot to deal with. Try to be patient with yourself. ONly you know what your body needs. take the advice that works for you and let the rest go.
Everyone is different!!
You do deserve to have proper treatment! You are precious to the world. Every life is precious.
Hope you feel better emotionally at the very least.
I've been where you are...for about 30 years. It's hard to keep busy when you hurt...sometimes the pain just screams atme and overrides my attempt to keep busy.
I've learned that if I set small goals for myself and work toward that, I feel better about myself mentally. Yes, the pain is still there, but I have a feeling of accomplishment.
I've just had a total hip replacement (2 months after a back surgery...OUCH!). I may set a goal as silly as, "I think I'll dust the living room today". May sound like an easy task to some...but not for me. When I accomplish it, I feel great.
You just have to hang in there, and make the best of your situation. It's not easy, but it's better than allowing yourself to wallow in self-pity.
My best to you,
Corri
