Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

It started off great... I knew I was going to have a bad pain day so I had a day of nothing at all planned. I was just laying down for my morning nap when my daughter, who I did not expect for several days, came in!! One of the first words out of her mouth was "PONIES" which made me leap up, bad pain day or not, and get dressed.
We did a bit of quick running around, got food for dogs, ferrets, and Arby's for people then it was out to the stable. She borrowed my horse to go for a nice gallop while I slowly went about grooming hers and saddling in preparation for me to ride... and finished just as my daughter got back. LOL.
So we switched horses to our own and went into the arena. I just rode bareback as that was how she had ridden. We rode for almost another hour - I just walked slow on my horse while he cooled down from his run. Her horse was more frisky and I was glad we had switched. My back was killing me with every step my horse made so being on a bouncy baby was not where I wanted to be.
We had decided we were done and were heading over to my ladder so I could get off when a sudden loud grinding noise spooked both horses. My normally calm horse (at least when I am hurting) bolted at over 40mph coming to an abrupt halt by doing a sliding stop just before hitting the wall of the arena - bouncing me off his neck, but luckily not five feet to the ground.
When my daughter got her horse stopped, I called out to ask the person with the power drill to please not do that when I am riding bareback... my daughter asked three more times for them to stop before they did. By that time, the shock had worn off and my spine exploded in agony. My daughter dismounted and led my scared horse over to the ladder and helped me dismount.
She left me at the ladder as I could not stand while she went to put the horses away. As she passed the woman with the drill, my daughter tried to ask that she not run power tools when people are riding.... Add almost an hour and a half of screaming drama here... I am not going into the details, but the end result was that my safe haven of the horse stable is now destroyed. I am terrified of encountering that person again, or what she might do to my horses or tack when I am not there.
I have been at this stable for 7 years. The stable owner is one of my best friends. As I walked past her to get to the car (in my full speed mode of agony that means I might pass one foot with the other with each step) I told her that I will move the horses out in the morning and we will not be back until that person is no longer at the stable.
I have set up to move my horses to the stable owner's aunt's house in the morning.
I am on lots of pain killers and tranquilizers to stay calm. Hubby fed me a shot of vodka. My mind is having issues focusing. I am going to go take a shower and go take my nap...

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

There are idiots born everyday. Sorry they had to show up at your stable. Hope you find a safe location for your horses.
Rest and relax. Sending lots of positive energy and prayers

And were that MY stable, someone who puts other people in jeopardy of life an limb, which is easy to do around 1000lb animals, would be gone that day. There are kids at this stable! What if it has been a couple of 12 year olds?
There is common courtesy that is the only way people stay safe around horses.
There is a good possibility that the stable owner's hubby when he gets home (probably a couple hours ago while I was sleeping) will have a LOT to say about what happened. It is his property... and he is ultimately liable for anyone who gets hurt.
It is only because I am a damn good rider that I stayed on and did not bounce against the arena wall or the ground... which would have killed me... I have been assured by doctors that a hard fall will crush what is left of my T6 - which is where the nerves that control my diaphragm are. That goes and I suffocate before anyone can dial 911...
So we are moving. If that lady gets booted, we will see about coming back. Luckily I have my own trailer and a place to go with them.

I hope things get resolved and you can go back to enjoying your riding again. Sending healing thoughts your way.

Here's to a much better day.
They should have signs up around the stable about making loud noises around the horses-at any time!
Annoying, but not the end of the world. By the end of the day I will have my horses and stuff out of there and not give it a second thought. Hubby is getting a loan from his mom to be able to pay them off by the end of this month and we are just walking away.
Friday, when my back is recovered, hopefully, my daughter and I will head out and find the places to ride at the new location. Nothing is going to get between me and my horse.

I applaud your attitude toward this!! Not everyone would pick up and move on, not letting it cost you because, clearly, you're not the one that it should have cost.
I have other things to worry about. this one is no longer my circus or monkeys.. mom-in-law has already put the money I owe in the bank so we will be paid in full as I drive away.
then I stop stressing and just c h i l l out
hugs and love!!!

Hopefully you'll be able to salvage the friendship with the owner of the stable, who will no doubt miss you. Good luck as you move forward!

I think this has been a good thing. The stress is over and done with, now I just have to deal with the pain of being up and about for 14 hours.
Heading to bed with thoughts of sleeping for all of tomorrow... Thus I have to go see the pain doc... lol
