I used to get them every other week. Lysine three times a day has reduced it a lot.
It is not a cure. And it is OTC.
Hope you feel better soon.
I get cold sores on my mouth a few times a year & I started using Tea Tree Oil.
It's amazing!
All I do is put some on a cotton swab & use it on the area I feel the cold sore. It helps a great deal with the pain & cuts the time it lasts drastically.
Maybe you could give Tea Tree Oil a try. At least Google it's benefits.
I use it a lot for various things.
I hope its short lived.
