Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Sexual assault is a horrible experience and the "victim blaming," is still quite common...too common. Hopefully this sentiment changes.
(((HUGS)))
Thank you. Sexual assault is one of the few felonies where the VICTIM is STILL put on trial by nearly everyone - forever.
TO this day, people will make rude remarks when I am wearing long underwear AND a turtleneck sweater under the button down shirt. And clearly even HERE I am simply expected to share details that might violate my anonymity.
Victims of other felonious assaults are simply shown compassionate mercy. It is a nightmare that just keeps victimizing.
Thank you for your compassion.
It's part of the rape culture in our society. Victim blaming is a horrible thing to do. But lets be totally clear about something, you were under NO OBLIGATION to even report the assault. And if you didn't, and your answer on here was that you didn't report it, that doesn't mean it didn't happen. Many women feel victimized a second time by going through the process of reporting and going through the courts, and they just don't want to go through that. I don't blame them at all.
I'm sorry if you felt you weren't believed in this thread. No one should make you feel that way after going through what you went through. I just wanted to tell you that there are people on here that believe you and would support you.

I'm not sure I would report an assault or sexual assault. I didn't report my ex for hitting me.
There are lots of factors in play cultural especially.
Sorry for your suffering Brightside.
It's hard to say what one would do in that situation. But whatever the decision, that person should be supported by those around them, no matter what it is. There is no duty to report. And no one should be made to feel less than if they decide not to.
I understand that you didn't report your ex, and if I couldn't get you to call the cops, I would have just urged you to get the hell out of there ASAP.
I'm no pushover by any means but it made no financial sense for one thing- my ex earned the money at the time and him losing his job would have been even more suffering.
I also felt strongly I had to handle things myself- it was private.
Concerning drs 'just do this' or 'just do that' is pretty laughable when options are limited...in some ways I think it would do Americans good to have an extreme right wing government dismantle Medicare and medicaid- those people affected would at least learn some empathy for what some of us have been going through! And I doubt they'd be quite so sanguine if it were happening to them either.
Kudos to those people who do understand.
My emphasis was did you report it? Because this is how the bad Dr.'s get away with continuing to be awful Dr.'s and hurting patients instead of helping them....they count on the fact that people won't report them, or file charges with the police, they count on their "position" and the "our word against theirs" being threatening enough that the patient just won't do anything about it. And that's how they are able to continue to get away with hurting patients over and over again.....until someone stands up and does something about it, it won't stop.
The same with the hospital staff that treated you so poorly, did you report them to the Hospital ethics Board or Patient Advocate? Because unless folks report these things, it doesn't change. It's up to the patients to report bad treatment or things won't won't ever change and those places will continue to be bad at what they do.
One thing I want to clear up, because I'm tired of it being said in this Thread. I did not once in my O.P. say that people could not complain about their bad Dr.'s. It's a Support Board anyone can whine, gripe, groan or grouch about whatever they want. I don't have the power to tell anyone any different. My Post is about my opinion that Dr.s who are good and do great jobs don't get the accolades they deserve compared to the bad Dr.'s who always get talked about and give a bad rep to the whole profession. So I'd really appreciate if you and others would not twist my words.
This Post was my Thoughts and my Opinions about my Dr.'s and the great job they do and it was about how I feel and am affected by reading frequently about bad Dr.'s and how 1 can be translated into the whole medical field.
I am allowed to post my Opinons, just like everyone else on this Board posts theirs. I included a sentence at the end of the post that was very clear, it said, "******This was not meant to anger or offend anyone. If it does, pls. just ignore it." So if people don't like it, I'd suggest they do that, because it was not meant as an argumentative post.
Take care,
How the Hell are ya?
Hugs

Lol, couldn't resist.
Of all the medical professionals I see, I know my dermatologist, psychiatrist, and therapist are genuinely interested in helping me. I'd love to have any one of them manage my CP but...they don't do that so...I'm REALLY hoping the VA ortho I see has a good treatment plan.
Hey gal, I'm still hanging in by my toenails! lol Can't believe this year has gone by and trying to figure out how I missed it! These days its all about keeping infections to a minimum, organ swelling to a minimum and pain from going over the edge.....
Hope your doing well my friend! I've missed ya!!!
I have met far more unpleasant, egotistical doctors than kind, helpful ones. I try to keep communication to the point. I pray that my care is helpful. I have found myself to be in extreme pain on too many occasions. Pain treatment is available why is it not utilized? I have had the same surgery twice. The first time things were manageable the second the pain extreme. What was the difference? The surgeon's attitude to pain relief. I fear pain, therefore I fear doctors and surgery. It doesn't have to be this way.
I think it's for-profit medicine I really do. Drs are in it for the wrong reason, cash.
Sorry you are having a tough time. It's hard being ill.
