Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

If you have to take your BT meds scheduled everyday....they're no longer BT meds and become part of your main pain control....Have you talked to your Dr. about increasing your main LT pain meds so your not using BT meds to do that job?
Sorry I know it's not with your question, just something to think of.
Hope you have a fun day with your family.

You're right..
It's just a technicality for me..and my PM do to call them breakthrough meds.
She knows I use them as maintenance meds.
Once I reach breakthrough fentanyl status..it all becomes chasing pain.
I'm maxed out On LYs and BTs..and muscle relaxer.
Heck..she even sneaks in a little something beyond maxed out because it's on a lower schedule..:-)
That's why we're talking about the pump. Since the meds go right into your spine..you actually require less, meds.
Anyway..
I was just wondering what things people were willing to say..yeh..this is going to hurt later..for?
I guess 'cause those are the things that get us through.
Thanks for your reply..I did have a little short while of fun time with my little guy..:-)

Hell Jan, I used to do the old tradeoff method alll the time. Doing something I knew was gonna hurt but doing it anyway. My yard hasn't been worked on in months (the last 6 months, pain's been brutal).
There's many things I would do and pay for later, like entertaining a grandchild if I had one!
BTW, I've talked to a few anesthesiologists who said the morphine pump is VERY effective for pain. Hope you make it to your next B/T med without too much suffering. Hugzzzzz Dianna
Instead, I took everything I could without really breaking any rules...it's more like I took the stuff I normally would have taken a little later. My Sister offered to be my driver so I could get there safely.
My Grandaughter stuck to me like glue the whole time and it was worth every bit of the pain.
ready for bed %)
A bit of trivia you might find interesting....My BP meds are a wierd mix, Tegretol and Flexerill....when Flexerill first came on the market 30 or so years ago, it was an anti-depressant. It works well for me, and since I also have to take a muscle relaxer it works double duty. Thought you might find that interesting.
