My Grandma died a few days ago, and in making the travel plans to get to the funeral, I realized I'll miss my regular doctor appt. I cannot miss this funeral & spent a fortune to get there.
My doctor's answering machine says, "If you're having an emergency, go the the ER, if you're trying to cancel an appointment, call on January 2nd." It said, more but that's about all I heard. I've never had problem one with this doctor but I KNOW he hates it when people cancel or show up late, etc. And my appt is ON the 2nd of January!
I fly out in 4 hours and am really worried. Maybe it's just the grief, but in 16 years I haven't missed a doctor appointment. And my doctor is kind and likes me! Why am I freaking out so badly?
Luckily I had a good month b/c I traveled so much I forgot to take my pills several times (not GOOD but it helps in letting me have enough for the trip.) So I'm not worried about this next week with meds, just worried about the doctor's office.
Ugh- I just need some time to think w/o all this stress. Stress is about the worst thing for my RSD and it's not going to get any easier. I miss my Grandma, I'm going HOME which is always difficult b/c I try to hide my bad foot & it's impossible in this snow.
Tell me that the New Year is going to be okay!

I know this is stupid, but after not being able to find a job after graduation for almost two years, I ended up just taking an online teaching job because I couldn't find anything in my field. I was trying to get out of teaching and I feel so devastated. I felt this crushing feeling when I signed the paperwork and when I was in the meetings. I know that sounds so dramatic but it is how I felt. It...

Tomorrow is National Massachusetts Day!Have you ever lived in or visited Massachusetts? If so, tell us what's great about the Bay State!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I wouldn't worry about the drs. office. Just call on the 2nd and let them know about your grandmother. They're usually don't mind a missed appt. because of a family emergency like you have.
Have a safe trip, and again I'm so sorry for your loss.
I'm sending prayers and hugs,
Mary Ellen
Wishes are up for You and the family...
Hope everything works out with your doctor and the stress doesn't cause the RSD to get out of control..
Thinking of you during this difficult time... gentle ((((Hugs))))
Praying for you and your family at this time. Doctors understand. Just focus on you. Try to keep the stress as low as possible and pace yourself.
Be at peace, you were blessed with the joy of knowing your Grandmother. Celebrate those memories.
Again, so sorry for your loss. Gentle hugs-RJ
I'm sorry for the loss of your Grandma.
DON'T PAIC about the Doc..
( OK..I would, too)..
But..you have a good relationship with him..
And an exceptional circumstance..
I bet it will be OK.
Be as careful as you can not to aggrevate your RSD anymore than necessary...
Safe travels.
Hugs

that is certainly an emergency and i'm sure your dr will understand... hope the RSD stays under control.
I'll add that I don't think you're doctor will be upset. Things happen. You have a very good excuse. Just leave him a message and call tomorrow morning when the drs. office opens if you want to be sure they got the message. (If you are able).
I'm so sorry your grandmother died. I pray that your family can get through this.
Sandy
My prayers are with you and your family.
Hugs, Autumn
I do appreciate all the posts and good wishes- you're all very kind! Happy New Year to everyone, and hopefully it'll be a pain-free year for all of us. :) I'm off to lunch soon & then FINALLY to sleep. I'll call the dr's office 1st thing tomorrow. I'm sure it'll be okay. :)
Thank-you all!
