Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
I had 2 failed spinal fusions and ended up with a lot of nerve damages in my legs, colon and bladder. I have same problems and more...
You absolutely have to address this to your Neurosurgeon and Spinal Ortho - this is a very important symptom in your Dx, believe me. Do yourself a big favor, please, and let them know.
I am not a Dr by any means, but based on my own experience I have to say that this means your nerves in your spine inflammed at this point and if not paying attention on time to this symptom - they may get damaged and like in my case it not reversable.
Nothing to be embarrassed about, we are humans, you did not bring this to yourself. We all understand what you are going through, so take good care of yourself!!
Best wishes and hugs...

I'm 22 and I'm in my 7 year of severe spinal problems. I started having this specific problem about a year ago. I have greatly increased urgency, nearly never feel empty, and have to go 5 minutes after I go. It could feel like I'm about to burst, but then sometimes only a little comes out. I also have the "leakage" problem. It's the same for me; it's something I can't feel or control. I'm usually able to stop the flood, but still, that little bit comes out. It has also happened when I sneezed, but this was only a few isolated incidents... So...
I've seen various doctors, including an ER doctor about this problem. I went to the ER the one time I lost bowel control. It actually happened while I was already standing for about 10 minutes. All of these doctors tested me for Cauda Equina, but all tests came back negative. The ER doctor noted loss of recral tone, but I haven't lost control of my bowel since. My spine specialists have speculated that the bladder control problem is a result of my chronically-irratated spinal nerves. I'm not sure I completely agree, but at least it's not a glaringly obvious case of Cauda Equina.
I definitely feel you on this one! Sometimes, it makes me feel quite pissed, ahahahaha! Ok, I couldn't resist... I hope by now you have an answer as to why this is happening to you and I hope the solution is fairly easy!
Much love and understanding,
Lisa
I frequently get numbness in my legs and my personals completely loose feeling at times along with slight bladder control issues. It completely freaks me out! I was always thinking that it was a by product of my piled up conditions. I will bring this to my docs attention next visit just to be safe.
That's why I love this site and you guys. We share our pain and sometimes our symptoms.
In partial cauda equina bowel and bladder function is controlled but limited. There are days I need an adult diaper, and days I'm ok. It's very important you go get this checked because with full Cauda Equina syndrome most end up in wheelchairs with no bowel or bladder function. This mean manually having to use caths to urinate, and or getting the stool out manually. I don't want to scare you, but take it very seriously.
1. Severely irritated nerves--usually caused by length of time and amount of damage that your spinal cord and/or nerve roots have been impacted by your conditions
2. Cuada Equina Syndrome--it is more common to lose bladder/bowl function ...but you can also be unable to preform bladder/bowls completely (like urinating and not being able to empty your bladder and then "spillage" happens -like dribble in your undergarments), another symptom is saddle anesthsia (numbness in the area of your groin, buttox, perineal area) CES is a very, very dangerous sign and requires surgery within 24 hours of onset to hopefully reverse any damage. The worse the symptoms are, the less likely a surgery will be able to fully repair it.
Please let us know your outcome and how you are doing. Take Care.
