Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

Unfortunately, there are nasty people in this world who can't be nice to people. This nurse is one of those people who really don't belong being a nurse and should find some other profession. Have you complained to your.Dr. about her or to the nursing supervisor. I've had to do this a.few times when i've been treated badly. I won't tolerate it and neither should you, or anybody for that matter.
I've seen them treat people so poorly, especially the elderly, or overweight as I was most of my life. I finally realized I had to be my own advocate, being alone, I don't have anyone fighting for me or my rights, but me. So now I speak up or write letters and don't allow anyone, nurse, doctor, etc. to treat me poorly ever.
I'm very sorry you had to endure any of this. It's not enough that you're in pain, out of work, depending on food bank for nutrition, they need to make you feel worse about weight of all things. I was 289 lbs till i.was 40 years old and experienced comments frequently. The way I looked at it, not everyone is suppose to be tiny. I tried losing weight many, many times and would lose, gain, lose. I finally stoppes.worrying so much about it. After all with all of my medical problems, I couldn't really exercise or walk for that matter. Anyways, I joined weight watchers again when I was 40 and for some reason, it finally worked and I lost over 100 lbs. If I didn't I would still be heavy, but would never allow someone give me crap about it. I didn't have trick mirrors in my house. I knew how big I was but if I wasn't ready.to lose the weight and change my lifestyle, it wouldn't have worked and that would have been fine with me. Something just clicked for me that time, and I lost it. Im still in pain and will be for the rest of my life. The weight loss is not a cure all. So please don't ever let anyone put you down or talk to you like it's your fault, because it's not.
Hugs,
Mary Ellen
She is in no position to control patients! You are paying her salary.
I've been thinking about doing a diet that delivers the healthy food to eat daily. Financially I'm not sure I can handle the cost. Being over weight just makes the pain worse.
We can encourage each other to keep trying daily.
Healing hugs
Don't let some bit.. ruin your great news. It's your doctor that needs to order that test not Nazi nurse. Put on your shitkickers! lol
I'm tired of hearing about how people that live in pain are suppose to lose weight! How can you get the exercise you need? Diet isn't about food it is a meal and exercise plan! Just another way of insulting chronic pain people!
I am here my friend for you always :)
Love and hugs,
Toni
I am very sorry you were treated so horribly by this monstrosity of a human that has the audacity to call herself a nurse. I worked as a nurse for 16 years and showed great compassion to patients and people with chronic pain bc I suffered myself. It hits a raw nerve to read about this behavior bc it's true; ignorance exists in the medical community still unfortunately and I worked around it and deal with it personally. Bottom line is the patient is always right and your pain is what you say it is. If you do not like her behavior please report it so that others coming behind you do not have to endure her ignorance. Fight for your rights!! You are very important and do not deserve to be treated this way! Gentle hugs to you hun...
Hope you get the help you need without Miss Nazi Nurse.
Joanne
Apparently DS's last 'upgrade' messed up notifications again. Here I was thinking no one responded to my post because I didn't get any notices. I am so thankful for all the comments and to know I have this kind of support here. I'd be lost without DS since I don't have any friends around here to talk to . Thanks again everyone, I'll see what I can do about this. Big hugs and peace,
ssLisa
Posts are also disappearing.
I'm sorry one dumbass ruined your day.
Try not to give her any more space in your head.

if nazi nurse wants to help, she can bring you healthy food instead of belittling you.
I can't tell you how much this upsets me. I was a RN for 17 years before becoming disabled and I never once lectured someone about losing weight or anything else.
Is she a nurse practitioner? If not, she's legally not allowed to say the things she said to you. Even ..if she is a NP, she showed no compassion and certainly didn't help by making the ideas she had for you. She is not a doctor, no matter if she has a MSN or not.
You must, must, must tell your doctor about her behavior. I'm sure you're not the only one she's doing this to and it needs to stop. You're doctor is going to lose patients if she gives this attitude to his patients.
And a "poor man's diet"? What the hell is that? Drs. recommend weight watchers usually. The nurse shouldn't be giving nutritional advice based on her own past experience. I lost 47lbs on WW's and kept it off for 10 years until I got pregnant with Conor and my lupus went berserk. Was on high-dose prednisone for years and along with Lyrica, it made me gain over 100lbs and is now making it harder to lose weight now that I'm back on WW's.
You should also report her to your state's board of nursing. She overstepped her bounds of realm of practice and should be at least fined for it.
Some nurses, especially with advanced degrees, get a big head and think they're the end all and be all of medicine.
When you make your next appt., be sure to ask for a date when you'll be able to see your doctor, not the nurse That way, even if she's there, you can ignore her and tell her to just shut up. You're there to see the doctor not the nurse. You can do it in a kinder way that just saying "shut up" but that's the only thing I can think of right now.
You should also call her on her behavior. Tell her who much her words hurt you and they have no value to you. If she's so concerned about your health or money issues, then maybe she should come up with something more productive- like finding you help in getting food, or ways to exercise when you're disabled
Sorry for my rant too, but it really pisses me off when I hear about nurses having bad atttitudes. Remember, she and your doctor are YOUR employees- you pay them and deserve the best treatment. if the behavior doesn't change after you talk to her and your doctor, then I suggest you find another doctor. I changed PCPs recently because of my doctor's office staff. Now I've found a wonderful doctor with a kind and friendly staff. They do exist!
