hey everyone I have had bad luck and just now figured it out today. Last month my dr figured out that my sezires where being caused by my pain being out of control. He put me on 7.5mg of vicodin. sadly i had a seizure in the hotel in las vegas last month and thought someone stole my purse in the hotel and for money then just getting lucky pain pills were in there. My dr was understanding enough to write me a new script for the month just that once. Today when i found out I was running a week late again I found out my 15 year old step son who is flying home tomorrow was stealing my meds out of the lockbox!! His dad took care of him but Im terrified of going through withdrawls again. I cannot tell my dr i ran out early two months in a row. It doesnt happen. He moght think Im abusing and honestly i hate being on pills.
Would anyone have any advice at all on how to deal with the flu like sickness that comes when we stop taking our pain meds. My dr put me on vicodin because he said as pain pills go its not a big deal and a "baby" compared to the stronger stuff that I was on. But the anxiety is there .I dont want to go through the pain and withdrawls. Going through it makes my depression so much worse and hubby doesnt underatand. Someone told me that taking sleeping pills and imodium phenergan was the best thing I could do that it would be bad for 5 days and afterthat not so bad. Im terrified either way. My pain scares me. Hubby and drs dont understand I cry to as a release something from my pain and seizures about my body I can control. I dont cry because well ya the pain but depression just its a release. I will need to do this until the 3rd or 25th wish me luck. YOu guys are the only ones I can trust and I know will understand the struggle. Im tired of being looked at as an addict when I struggle to take the meds in the first place.... I do need this help though the last time I ran out and had to stop I ended up spending two weeks in the hospital. Im scared please if u can help

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

The resulting feelings of depression are brutal. I hope it is almost over for you. God only knows how hard it is.
Stand your ground, do what you got to do for yourself! Your husband does not care about your pain like he should, and you need to stand up for yourself. I have no remedies for withdrawals, because (Thank God), I've never been through them, but filling a police report and taking the report to your Doctor so you can get an early script, is the right thing to do!
About that police report, no matter what your husband did, you need to file a police report and you need to do it today before you stepson leaves the area and is out of the jurisdiction tomorrow. Call to report a robbery and depending on the time of day insist that the police come to you (you want to get the report in the system before your stepson leave the jurisdiction). He put you LIFE on the line by stealing your pills and placing you at risk for another pain-induced seizure (every seizure is a potentially life-threatening situation) and there is NOTHING his father can possibly do that will substitute for reporting his criminal action to the police. Your stepson is the very person we are all accused of being and by allowing him to get by with his father taking care of it, your husband not only negating the severity of your pain and seizures, but he's seriously downplaying the severity of his son's crime. It's absolutely unacceptable. Your husband knows you ended up in the hospital for two weeks the last time you ran out of medication, but he's still going to take care of this himself? Who does he care about? It sure doesn't sound like you or his even son? His son committed a federal offense while putting your life in danger, but all he's learning is his father takes care of things for him. Oh hell no! Your stepson needs to learn from the criminal courts what the effect of his action is, not have his father "take care of it". In addition, he should never be allowed in YOUR home again. If his father wants to visit with him, he can rent a hotel room. Your life is too important to allow a 15-year old to control it and steal from you. Please, report him to the police today. His actions will only escalate and the next time, if you allow him in your house and he doesn't get his fix he may very turn on you. He needs to be punished appropriately and through the courts system and get whatever punishment and counseling is meted out for what he has done. It's highly unlikely this a first-time incident; just the first time he was caught, at least in your home.
As for medication, do you have any left? If so, I would spread it out so I had as much as possible every day, even if it was a single pill, instead of ending up completely cold turkey for a few days. Just one Vicoden a day may not be enough to fight all of your pain, but it may be enough to avoid a seizure.
And since you're on Vicoden, keep taking acetaminophen the same way and the same dose that you take the Vicoden so at least that part of your medication regimen stays the same. Maybe that can help trick your brain a little into thinking the hydrocodone is right behind it.
Since you get seizures, even though they're from the pain, I would avoid anything that can cause them, which includes antihistamines, the active ingredient in OTC sleep pills. I know it sucks, but you don't want to add anything that will cause seizures to your list.
Drink plenty of water; it helps with the pain as well as any unpleasant withdrawal symptoms (and keep in mind you may not experience any).
Please report your stepson to the police for stealing your medication and do it today by calling the police now, so he gets arrested and booked before he gets to fly home and is out of the area and out of reach. And then first thing tomorrow morning go to your doctor's office, police report in hand and ask for a new script.
Best wishes and I hope this all works out. Do not let your stepson off.
my husband did the same thing to me once--from then on I kept them locked up and away from him-he took me to buy the safe and only I could get into it--and waiting to get my refill wa murder--the pain was so bad I didn't care about the withdrawl symtoms,
so I can understand.
I also can understand about not wanting to take pain pills-it took a long time for my doctor to convence me to go onto a working dose of pain meds---boy was I stupid---
Having a life again and being able to interact with my family and friends is worth the physical price of the pain pills
so stop worrying and learn to protect your medication
1 -keep it locked up with a combo only you know
2 -count your pills
3--keep them in two bottles--your main supply stays at home and your daily travel dose goes in your purse---that way if you loose your purse you only loose a days dose or the dose you took on the trip not the whole thing
number 3 has saved me on more than once
good luck and hope you are soon pain free ;-)
and I want everyone to know I have never run out of my meds before or had someone steal them. MIght have decided I no longer want to be on them and just stop which I spoke to my dr about and he said with my pain levels and the seizures is very dangerous but I hate pills period. Im 25 feeling like 80 lol. No one should have that many meds. Let alone a theif in their house. And he is a good person he just I think needs help now before ur right he hurts me trying to get them. its just wrong i should hurt and be sick seriously a bat and I will be happy
Did the police file a report when they went to your house? If they did, you need to get a copy of that report and take it to your Doctor, in order to get your script. I know that your Doctor is probably going to think that all of this bad things happen to you, but you know what? shit happens, and at least with a police report you have proof of the robbery, and he has proof to put on your medical file on why he had to give you 2 scripts for narcotics on the same month. Doctor's get audited by the DEA and he needs to have that proof on your chart, so he will not get in trouble with the law, so get that police report, and take it to your Doc.
As far as staying away from your house until the step-son goes.... This is your house, you should NOT have to leave, when you leave and leave the place for the kid and the Dad, you have shown him weakness and the kid is going to think that "he won", he got you out of the house...... This kid is definetely a trouble kid, and he needs the support of his father, you and any other adult that is around. Been a teenager is rough, and then having a druggie for a Mom, an abscent father that has a new wife, and living with his gransparent's, has to be really tough on him. So afer he goes through his rehab or whatever it is that he is going to have to go through, I will suggest that the 3 of you go into family counseling.
The kid is not going to go away, he is going to be in your life and your husband's life for ever, so to make things better for all of you, you need to suggest family counseling in order to smooth things in your life.
As far as your husband not understanding the pain, Hun, unless you are in pain, you can not understand it, it is the way it is, and that you can not change. He might be a little sympathetic, but he can not get it, he has never experienced your kind of pain ever, so don't get too mad at him, it is normal for us human's not to be too sympathetic with things that we can not comprehend or things that we have never been involved with. You take care of yourself, go get that police report, take it to your Doc, and hopefully he will understand and give you a new script for you not to go into withdrawals. If that doesn't work, and you did not sign a medication contract with this Doctor, go to an urgent care facility and try to get some pain meds that will hold you up until your next refill and Doctor visit, OK? Take care,
Hugs,
Tipper
This is serious and I see it all the time around here. Find out what, if anything, ur husband did to him and guarantee it wasn't enough! This is how kids get enabled so they can continue to commit these crimes.
Time to put ur foot down and then be honest with you're doctor no matter what. The truth never hurts.
Good Luck!
