Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
More importantly, who said I was talking to everyone in the group with that new thread? There are some readers who could have benefited from the message - nobody needed to take it as an attack.
Meanwhile, although I didn't actually say the word "conspire" - look around - it appears that someone is trying to railroad me out of here. That's shameful, and it wouldn't be the first time such behavior has happened in the group. We could use some people around here acting as positive influences and encouraging members to show each other basic respect. I'm not used to groups like this where things are allowed to get so bad.
GM, your post was clearly closed for a reason, and we need to move on, and focus on health issues like you said.. defending your position is pointless, and a waste of time.. if your a sincerer individual, and have a kind heart, you will not keep coming back and trying to make a point.. please allow some time and space for all concerned..
just my thought on the matter..
~stinke~
There are sections titled Recommendations and Advice.
That is where more medical topics tend to come up.
I happen to believe that you have good intentions.
The reason for addressing this here rather than in private messaging..
Is to try to " calm the waters".. so to speak.
I THINK what you're trying to do is to spread some awareness you feel needed. That....though possibly misguided here..is a good intention.
Can you not at all step back and see how some might take offense in the manner you go about it?
This is not the first time you've made a post here that could have been helpful..that instead was somehow insulting.
If you CAN'T see that...then, you can't change it..
And the message you hope to get across gets lost in
The offense you give.
Why can't you just make a post about your experience in finding a DX.? About your illness and it's treatments. And what it's like to live with them.
From what I've seen of support groups...they work best when folks " relate"....rather than dictate.
Hugs.....jc
it is just who ever is able to post that day, posts.
We have a few main threads like the good morning and the positive thought and prayer thread which we need for structure and so people will feel a sense of stability and something to look forward to.
You can or don't have to post to them.
But other than those, it is just who ever comes and feels like posting.
You are welcome to post, ask questions and be a part of this group.
I know things have gotten off to a bad start but it is never to late to begin again and this group is very forgiving.
We have all forgiven and been forgiven.
I hope you can get the support you need.
:)
I disike posting much information. Ultimately from experience in people attacking me when I have self-disclosed. If someone were to post about an experience similar to mine - which is what I want to happen - I'd be more likely to share. (I've never been to an ER for pain, I don't take pain meds.... so there's little reason for me to post in those threads.) But for physical reasons alone, I'm very unlikely to write a long post about my life. Or because I don't want to actively think about how bad my life is.
"Calming the waters" clearly didn't work and made it sound like all the blame was on me - so please don't do it that way in the future. And, no, even after re-reading it a few different times, I don't see what about my post was "insulting." (A few months ago, I said some things like "Holy..." and "probably have" which some people - but maybe not the intended target - felt was too extreme and I'd word things differently if there's a similar situation.)
I hereby remind me people that I have been a group member for years. It's annoying that I'm misidentified as a cowboy riding into town and not appreciated for occasional past contributions.
You got it, GM.
Hugs....jc
i just can't communicate on this level right now. you hit all the good points and i, as much as every dedicated member here, want to feel safe and supportive.
GM, i wish you no harm and only healing, but please look at your approach and read the threads.
By the way, there is no real direct treatment for what I have. I'm physically fragile, and I have to cope with that. I can easily imagine someone with EDS physically breaking down in just a few fairly mundane ways and seeking treatment for the damaged areas with no clue that it wasn't just bad luck, too much computer use, years of playing sports, or some other simple & incorrect explanation. But I didn't think of basing my thread around that because I didn't want to limit it to just the few no-clue EDS people who might be around. People who drone on about pet topics are annoying.
We all get annoyed!
But have you ever read where it says to bear one another's burdens?
Love one another?
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you?
Can you give just a little?
Directive statements aren't "insulting," per se, even if some people dislike hearing them.
So here I'm truly ignorant.
as i've asked before, could you read through posts or search on topics that apply to you.
we are not a hostile group, we are protective of each other.
if you put a wall around yourself, you'll never make a true connection. could you please try to be less confrontational?
Directives are not usually insulting but can be.
I think we all want the same thing here. To understand and to be understood.
I hope it happens!
Hugs and peace!
I just learned how to do that on my noepad...and, for some reason, can't do it here.
Sorry.
Hugs.....jc
