I'm sure there will be some one here whose had this.
For every flare I've had in last three years, I have lost a few pounds, then gained it back in between.
The one I had before this one, I lost 25 lbs. I'm 5'4" and weighed 125
Before that. Was not able to gain back weight between flares this time.
Of course, in this current flare, I am losing again under 95 lbs.
On some frames, I don't know maybe that would be okay. But I'm really starting to look skeletal (sp?).
I've been avoiding letting my husband see all of me at once, but I have an appointment with the immuologist who's referring me to gastro tomorow-and DH always goes in with me.
I don't want to get stuck in a hospital.
I've tried nutritional Drinks when I can tolerte them, dh makes sure my favorite foods are always around.......
My question is, does any on know of aa way to be given calories without a feeding tube?
Can you get calories through an I.V. and has anyone ever heard of someone being able to do this at home?

Funner answer than that I get blurred vision bad, but always,so far, thank god, o ly in one eye at a time, so I just close the blurry one when I need to see. I like the patch idea though.

I'm not sure any more what all I have been tested for over these years........I kow a couple of my docs are starting over from scratch because dx doesn't fit

But it's administered via a central line --a super long IV catheter placed into your chest. The end of the catheter actually sits in the top chamber of the heart. It carries a very real threat of blood infection. There is a form that can be used in a regular IV, but the solution is very hard on veins, and it can't be used for too long.
I took care of a child who had "TPN" or total parenteral nutrition, for many years, and she'd get sepsis, or blood infection, several times a year.
OK, sorry if that's too much information, lol. T answer your question can calories be given IV--yes, they can!
