Hi all,
I dont post often but I need some opinions and I trust you guys a lot more than my Dr's.
I have Agoraphobia / Panic disorder / anxiety I have had it since I was 10 and have been in counsling for most of my life. I havent worked for 10 years. I have worked very little most of my life.
A year ago my I found out my husband was molesting my daughter. He is in prison now for a long time.
Now , I am on welfare because of my pain and anxiety and I have been trying for 6 years to get SSD. I have been denied many times and I am at the end of the road.
As far as pain , I have daily headaches, chronic neck pain from a fall, 3 blown disks in my neck and nerve damage in the same place.
I have fibromyalgia, Osteo arthrits in my knees and hips and foot.
IBS and GERD. I could go on. Im on 180 mg oxycontin ER daily. my dr
need a shrink to fix my anxiety and to get off the pain medicine because he thinks its making my pain worse. He refuses to give my breakthrough medicine. I think its all part of Dr's not wanting to give out pain medicine.
I have MRI's and x-rays to prove my illness , but one of my Dr's wrote to Social Security and told them I was able to work part time.
The last work I did was cleaning apartments.
I cant even clean my own home or cook my own food anymore.
I live at a pain level of 7 most of the time.
Has anyone heard of pain medicine making pain worse. I cant imagine not having it because I wake up at a level 10 daily.
What do you all think? I take 180 mg oxycontin ER daily.

Go to Vocational Rehab. Then go directly to Social Security. Apply for disability. Your reason will be psychiatric. You will be evaluated by a Psychologist, Social Worker, probably a Psychiatrist. You'll probably take an MMPI thest or something like that. No, you don't like to play with your feces. Tell them what they want to hear. They have to find something wrong to justify their job.
Demonstrate an inability to accurately count backwards from 100 by sevens. When they tell you to remember the words "blue", "ball", and "dog", when they ask you 3-5 minutes later to repeat them, forget one, struggle for one, state the third correctly.
Have a mildly grandioise but not too extreme plan for what you want to do.
I know a guy's sister up north that pulled this one. You sound like you deserve it though.

Step 2 This is very imprtant for you to do exactly as instructed.
Figure out who is in the same prison as the Pedo for life for murder or something like that and has kids. Visit the person once a month and bring cigarrets or whatever is allowed. After a few months hand them a printout picture of the perv with no writing on it at all. Verbally tell him that he likes the little ones WAY to much and will get out someday to like other kids way to much. The Prison Inmates will take care of the rest.

When you are on pain meds they usually approve you because you can not operate correctly so it says and they can make you tired, I told the judge that i need to take an nap everyday because the meds make me so tired and that everyday it is a struggle and i was approved .
Get a lawyer they know all the ins and outs
I don't know if you can get out of the house right now, but if you can, snake has some pretty good ideas there. The other thing is that since you have such an extensive history of the same disorder, SS should have in fact approved you. When SS looks at your file, they have to consider you entire file and would have approved you if that one doctor hadn't wrote that 'you could work part-time. What dr. was that? Medical or Psych? g98258 has a great idea too...find a new dr either way!!! Because based on what you said, DO NOT give this dr. your time, money, or effort any more. Rayfoof has a point with migraines. Everyone is different though. The Mayo Clinic will not see anyone taking any Opiods for Migraines until they are completely weaned off of them. And what the heck is with them not giving you breakthrough meds? Maybe they should change your med regimen? Don't know.
Second opinions may not hurt either since you may choose to seek a new doctor or 2 anyway? Also, how many specialist do you see? Hopefully it was not some GP that made that statement that you could work part time!

Once on SSD, my sister was able to go back to school, find a decent counselor & dr, stabilize her meds, and can work and earn up to so much money per year without losing SSD. She will never be able to work a conventional job, but it has given her the means to become a more productive member of society. Being on welfare can be a stressful, demanding--even humiliating situation, in my personal experience. They have their guidelines and if you don't meet all their demands & deadlines, it's nothing but drama. At least talk to a lawyer. SSD is a lot less drama - and it sounds like you have a legitimate claim. Your kids may even be eligible.

You have been given some great advice already, but I am going to add a few more.... There is a company called Allsup, that specializes in approving people for SSD and they have a 97% success rate, if you don't want to go with a lawyer, or if you have a lawyer and he 's not very good, go to; www.allsup.com and start your SSD process with them.
I don't know if you have enough credits to get SSDI, so you might have to apply for SSI which is for people that haven't worked a lot and are disable.
As far as your Doctor goes, yes there is rebound pain that can be caused by opiods, but how does he know that this is your problem??? I personally think that he does not want to prescribe any break through meds for you so he came up with that "great" idea!

I already had my evaluation and the Dr. asked me to remember 3 words and I know I got one right , but I think I got the others wrong.
He asked me to count by 3's5's etc. and I had a meltdown because I just couldnt think.
I didnt even have to fake it. I have been so overwhelmed this last year I dont really know what has been keeping me alive other than my daughter and trying to make sure she was OK> I swear if I didnt have her I would have been gone LONG ago.

Next week in order to keep my food stamp benefits I am gonna have to get into the jobs program and do what they say. Ill show up and Im sure have several meltdowns and be in the fetal position because of pain. As of today the DR is taking me off my pain medicine. Slowly I hope.

In conclusion, I now have hardware installed in my spine but still live with chronic pain. There are no medical solutions and pain medication has always failed me so I don't take any. I'm a stubborn person with a high pain threshold and still take life one day at a time, even if the days are woefully long, I try to be as independent as possible. I finally submitted my S.S. paperwork at the urging of my federal W/C lawyer, but I did it without any lawyers help and won my case with a little hell from S.S.
It's your life. Don't sell yourself short because one doctor says they can't do anything else for you. Get busy living and let your spirit be consumed with your own faith, but get busy.

That is a tremendous amount of oxy to be taking. Oain meds level off and with that high a dosage you may have a hard time getting relief because more would be dangerous. See if you can switch to something else for a month, then go back. That works for me.
