Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Support Group
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) describes a sense of exhaustion and post-exertion malaise, even when you have gotten enough rest and sleep. The disease is characterized by six months of incapacitating fatigue experienced as profound exhaustion and extremely poor stamina, and problems with concentration and short-term memory. The cause is unknown, but it is a...
But why the total disconnect ...completely not recognizing someone I've known for years????????
My understanding is that it is often associated with ME/CFS. I have gotten in so much trouble with this, I hate having to deal with it. People often bump into me in public and have to tell me who they are. Sometimes I mix people up and mistake one person for another.
These are often people I've known really well for years. I see their faces and they look like total strangers to me. I know it's not logical, but it makes me feel really ashamed. People think I'm self-centered and don't care about them enough to remember them.
My hubby get upset with me because I just laugh off dumb things that I do, or mistakes that I make. Like paying the electric bill twice and forgeting to pay the credit card bill all in the same month. Or forgeting to put the sugar in the brownies.
Now I just laugh it off, otherwise I would probably cry. I is to scarry to know that I am a space-cadet and there is nothing to do to stop it from happening again.
I have no one to help me, I live alone. When I go out shopping for groceries, I don't really have my wits about me sometimes. I feel like I do, but later I realize that I was in a fog and didn't realize it.
I worry that someone will see my vulnerability and take advantage of it somehow.
I too love the angel theory Serce I believe we all have angels, i too have met random people who pep me up/ offer kind words or acts at just the right time when all is dismal. And i often find the odd white feather (angels calling card). Yes there are many earth angels and who intervene in daily life xx
Now I can't find names, but to not remember certain faces throws me, it's not all faces, just some. If she hadn't spoken I wouldn't have known I knew her at all....it feels so random.
Yesterday I had a plumbing problem. I was so foggy, I called for a repair and made the appt. They came right out and fixed it. Today I looked at the bill, it seemed high. So I priced the part and then called 3 area companies. Today I am not so foggy and today is when I should have been steering the ship. Driving through the fog yesterday cost me an extra $100. My normal self always gets 3 bids, my foggy self didn't even think to do that. I make me sad sometimes. The company I called also charge a tsf fee, when I called to ask what that was they said it was a fuel fee. The other companies did not charge that. I need to double my efforts to take care. Especially in light of living with half the budget.....I need every angel that can guide me....and appreciate every one! Hugs!
I have a lot of mental 'fog' but nothing as you describe with people helping that I don't remember.
((hugs)) Patricia
Angels reach out and gently remind us we are not.
My angels comfort me and they never ever hug too tight.
Serce, maybe it is the other way round from what you thought !
Perhaps it was her that made the mistake, maybe she thought you were someone that she knew.
My mum talks to random strangers in the supermarket sometimes then looks up at them properly and realises she has mistaken them for someone she knows (sometimes they even dont have any similarity). Ok my mums eyesight isnt 20/20 but it aint that bad and mentally she can be a little forgetful, usually names or where she put something down but she is doing not bad for 70+.
So perhaps you looked or sounded vaguely like someone she knows. !
Take care
Jen
