I am a shadow, a mere reflection of me
No thats not right, a hologram
I look so real
Even up close its hard to tell that I'm not really there.
The essence of who I am, who I hoped to be, gone
No, not really gone .. Trapped
Yes thats it
Forced into a croner, shackled by chains of lead
Chains so heavy, i struggle to move or even breath
Trapped in a cold steel cage
Dying slowly
The fates are cruel, every now and then I catch a glimmer
Out of the corner of my eye, I catch a glimpse of the key
Freedom, my spirit yearns for freedom
Sometimes that key seems so close
Perhaps if I stretch, just a little bit more...
But always the key remains out of reach
And I wthdraw once again to the back of my cage
While the fates cackle at my torment.
From my cage I watch other people live life, chase dreams, make a difference
Other people sing in choirs and work with young people, teaching, mentoring, inspiring our future
Other people help the elderly and heal the sick
Other people make a difference in this world
As I shrink into my cage the question knaws at me
How can I make a difference in this world?
And for the first time in my life, I have no answer
I feel helpless, powerless trapped here in this cage
Or..
Maybe..
I notice one part of me that is not bound by this cage
When I raise my voice to sing God's glory it soars on wings of wind, carried into eternity
My voice skips across copper and fibre from one tower to the next and hopefully, it warms a heart that needs hope, joy, encouragement
Ah yes
Words of encouragement and support flow from my keyboard, up into space and back again, hopping across the globe from one server to the next
Landing finally on the screen of someone who maybe .. in that moment, needs to hear that they are not alone, that someone cares
Even from the corner of my little cage
My voice soars, free and bold and beautiful
Maybe .. I'm not so powerless after all.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
