My dog, who considers himself an equal member of the family generally knows when we are off to school, work etc and will calmly bid us adieu and wait for our return. I dont know how he senses it but he knows when we are off to somewhere else and can be quite insistent about tagging along.
So a few days ago I get home and had to go back out. My son and I get in the car and the dog makes a mad dash and plants himself in the car also. Then commences a good 15 mins of my son chasing him from door to door. He's in the back my son gets to him he jumps into the front. My son tosses him out through one door, he dashes back in through the other...
I'm getting progressively more upset and this dog plants himself in my lap and gives me a big hug. I'm sitting in the drivers seat with a 70lb dog on my lap, trying to avoid his licking and laughing my head off... I needed it.
I nap every day at four. Daily part of my routine. I only rest till five, when we eat, but this rest seems to get me through the night.
When I go to lay down, I put the telephone under my husbands pillows so if it rings it won't wake me up. If it rings while I'm resting, he answers it! We've been doing this for seven years.
SO, last week, I did the usual, calling downstairs to him "Hon, I'm putting the phone under the pillows. He says "OK, see ya when you get up!" I proceed to hide the phone and go lay down.
After supper I come back upstairs to turn on the TV. I can't seem to find the remote. I never lose the remote! UGH. I rip the bed apart looking for the stupid thing. I call hubby upstairs to help me look for the stupid thing! It's hot. I'm aggravated, he's aggravated! He asks me, "how far could it have possibly gone??????' UM, I DUNNO~!!!!!
Whelp, I just turn around and happen to look at the phone stand. The phone is ON IT. Ruh roh! If the phone is there.......what did I put under his pilllllooooowww???? Went into his bedroom, lifted the pillow, pulled out the REMOTE. I walked back into my room where he was standing, staring at me....saying nothing.
I help the remote to my head and said "hello?"..........
Finally, I opened the refrigerator door, and it was louder. Re-dialing it a gazillion times so it would keep ringing, we finally found it -- in the crisper drawer UNDER the romaine lettuce. How did it get there??? Remains a mystery to this day. But whenever anything is lost, it's become a family tradition to say "Have you checked under the romaine."
At least I hadn't muted it. If I had it wouldn't have been found until we wanted a salad. And I'm sure I'll think of more funny/silly things I've done. (Me? I"m the one who put it there? Yeah.)
Good grief. Don't they know how dumb that makes them look to people not in show business?
I am also laughing at a new show I just found on Hulu called Miranda. It has its lead character as one of the nurses from PBS's Midwives and she is hilarous.
Did you know that there's a Senator Leer in NY who named his daughter, Shanda????
Dr.Spock must be rolling over in his grave.....
