CHRISTIAN PARENTS of ESTRANGED ADULT CHILDREN Community Group
Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
I hope you keep the communication open is all. Just dont lose contact.
(hugs) to you
Hugs to all parents (I think Moms more so) who are experiencing straned relationships with their children.
So glad your DH said he would not do it, again.
gordos, you are onto something about them having done something they are not proud of.. that's when mine cut me off when he moved in with that girl. Funny thing is he was against that too, before he met her, but she quickly changed his mind on many ways.. and not for the good either!
Try busying yourself with other things to keep your mind off him. And, it will be good for you, too, as he is grown now and has his own life independent from you for the most part. Re-kindle some hobbies or volunteer, etc...
Give your son some space and keep the conversations light when you do talk. Ask him about how he likes his apartment, job, school, etc. They need it to be all about them. Then, if a girlfriend comes into the picture, you will have built a solid "adult" relationship.
When our ES met our now DIL, it wasn't pretty. He has been estranged for 7 years. Because of my husband's recent surgeries, he has made contact. But I let him do the contacting. They want to be in charge. It is not right; but it is what it is.
Keep your son in your prayers and God will guide him.
My heart goes out to all of you.....None of us deserve this......
