Caring For Aging Parents Support Group
Caring for aging parents can be a difficul time as we become the caretakers for our parents. This broad responsibility can encompass such services as assisted living, adult day care, long term care, nursing homes, hospice care, and in-home care. Whether you have just started caring for your parents or just need a place to talk, we're here.
I am at my Mom's. She needs more care. Her mannerisms or her being so difficult. Just made me show dislike (we aren't getting along) My both nieces and cousin are in favor of her going in a nursing home or assisted living). I know she'll complain more, but she won,'t listen to anyone. I try to take care of her, but I just can't like her too much today. I know I am limited, but she refuses more homehealthcare. My father left her enough to live at home the rest if her life. She is unreasonable and trusts noone but herself. She says she doesn't want to go in a home assisted living. But she's unreasonable. My cousin is the take charge type and power of attorney with money and medical. It is not in my heart, but we can't get along some of the time.
Thanks to anyone who reads this.

Take away the mean words. Take away the feelings.
That is the key to figuring out if the stay at home is still workable for your mom.
The "not liking" depends on the actual situation.
Not being able to get along...it takes a lot of patience and acceptance that you will get all of the words, all of the changing independence words, and it is up to you to not take them personally.
You are responsible for what you say, do, react, and respond. You are NOT responsible for what your mom says, does, reacts, and responds.
In changing your response to neutral and general statements, it will force your mom to change her response, which may get worse before they get better.
Best wishes as you navigate through this challenging situation.
