Caring For Aging Parents Support Group
Caring for aging parents can be a difficul time as we become the caretakers for our parents. This broad responsibility can encompass such services as assisted living, adult day care, long term care, nursing homes, hospice care, and in-home care. Whether you have just started caring for your parents or just need a place to talk, we're here.

....and venting. Please tell me if it's just me or is it normal that a day can be fine and then in the blink of an eye not so? For example, had a nice evening and then all of the sudden I'm the enemy--I put the cap on the medicine bottle, I reset the cable on the television (that only I was watching) instead of asking first, being accused of not paying enough attention after answering the same question 3 times in the previous minute....
Am I being too harsh or is this just a day in the life? Any ideas how to let it go when you're the sensitive type?
I could probably go on, but getting even this little bit out helps some. Thank you for reading.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

But do NOT let that stop you!
You have feelings to and you're entitled to them..... Journal-ling might help to let them out
Do you have anyone to help give you some you time ?
I tried to see dementia for what it is but there are times that it's tough....
I can remember taking my mom to the hospital when she wouldn't eat and literally dropping her off in emerg and leaving
I was overwhelmed...... Give yourself permission to have your feelings ....
Remind yourself that this is illness and it really isn't personal..... Dementia effects moods and personality
I'm glad that you're here..... Gentle hug.......xo
Actually, the anger has gotten better as the dementia has advanced, I think because her memory is so poor.
This is so, SO HARD, harder than I ever thought it would be. I get a "thank you" every now & then. Most of the time not. I try to remind myself that it's the disease. Ma was always so polite, gracious, and nice; the woman she really is would never have been so dimissive and cold.
Sending good thoughts your way. Try to remember that this is NOT YOUR FAULT.
