It's like you have this important outcome, that will enable her afford to go there, without having to go into her own money, and LTC covers it...but if it's a NO....that means Nursing home care, or trying other assisted living places, and no time to figure out other places she can go by Thursday!!!
She can stay at the nursing home, but medicare won't pay for it, as she only has the coverage for "short term', and she's used up her benefits for that as of Thursday.
I hate the system, that puts these elderly -people in these positions...

Love and Hugs,
Debi
I will pray for her - if that is OK with your beliefs and hers.
Good luck
Sunny
Mom called earlier and told me that the people never showed up. I left a voice mail on the director's phone.
I have no idea what happened...but i'm hoping they can go over the morning...we are running out of time. She's ready for release on Thursday, and it will mean much more money if she has to stay on where she is, because her Medicare coverage will stop on Thursday.
Plus, I have been in severe hip and back pain the last few day, unable to walk without excruciating pain.
I'm done with this day!!!
And yes Sunny...prayers are always good, and fine by me!

Maybe someone was ill or did not come to work. Still, the place your Mom stays now needed to be notified.
People do not realize what this is like for others trying to cope with healthcare costs. Not to mention respecting someones feelings who is the patient. Our healthcare sucks.
Lets hope you feel better today and she hears from the eval (evil...LOL) people.
Peace
just WIOW!
This is a disgrace! There is no excuse for just skipping an appointment without any call or anything to explain.
They do realize this is an interview for them as well, right? I mean, you are evaluating their commitment to providing services to your mom when she is dependent on them for help and care.
It would make me think a second time.
I hope they have a very good reason and apology for both of you.
Anyway good luck and keep us posted.
So, they CANNOT accommodate her. She needs skilled nursing home are now.
The place she is in at Loretto, also has nursing home building. Ii'm waiting to hear back from the social worker, to see if they have a bed.
In the meantime, she will stay where she is, and will have to utilize her LTC insurance, and self pay the balance.
Either way, she will be in a safe environment.

they are moving her upstairs to the 2nd floor which is the Skilled Nursing/ Nursing Home area.
It may not be the most fantastic place, but for now she needs stability and to relax, since trying to find a place for her, as been not only nerve wracking for me, but a bit for her too.
I still never got a call from the Assisted Living Director to explain about yesterday's meeting. Not impressed anymore , with that place!
So, that's where she is. Hoping it wont be too different, but she will have more help available if needed ...I'm hoping, on this floor.
I'm exhausted..i needed a break, so this came just in time. I plan on going to the NY State Fair this weekend, to relax a bit. Although I'm in pain with my back, hips and knees, I'm going to rent an electric scooter to get around the Fair, and have some fun!

I would ask them for this eval. It determines what level of nursing home care is considered appropriate. Within nursing home care there are several levels of care. This will give you a lot of info about your mom's condition and will let you know what they are allowed to bill for. It just strikes me as fishy that the rehab found a spot for her in their nursing home wing at the last minute.
P.S. My daughter and I are going to the fair the end of next week :)
Do you still think i should call for them to do the last evaluation on mom, in person?
