I was just thinking....we are all in similar situations, and many of us, like me, would greatly benefit from either a local support group (which my town doesn't have), or friends who are dealing with the same care-giving issues, to share a cup of coffee with, or go shopping with.
We seem to be spread out all over the country (even world), and I've been trying to think of a way that we could find others in our area. Maybe there aren't enough people in this group to do that, anyway...just thinkin'!

I think this is a wonderful idea. I live in Savannah, Georgia. I'd love to get together with other care givers of our parents. We need to hold each other up.

Judith: I live in the Bay Area of California and our local hospital has meetings for caregivers. Although I haven't had time to attend any - LOL - it would be a great benefit when things settle down. You may want to check out local hospital in your area to see if they offer outreach programs like this. Your idea is great - wouldn't it be wonderful in a relaxed atmosphere to share feelings. When caring for aging parents it can be difficult. I have been to my parents three times a week for five years now - do all groceries, take care of all financial stuff, all doctor appts. and medical issues - pills, etc. Also having them for a ride or here for dinner. I am getting tired and now that my husband has cancer I feel overwhelmed. See what I mean, I don't have time right now for the group that would really help me - LOL. Oh my, we do what we have to do and it has been said that "God does not give you more than you are handle". I want to know who in the hell said that!!!!!!!!!!! I live in Boston Ma and there probably is a group, but as we say- when we do have some time we do the things we haven't done because we're so busy doing for others. I feel that I talk too much about my mom now as she's always on my mind, and I'm afraid people will get so tired of me. Friends don't really want to hear all the stuff that's going on, once in awhile's okay. This group is good for venting. I read self help books about coping too.Good luck with a face to face group.

Count me in. My town in Indiana is diverse but small . I worry that my Mom will find out that I am sneaking off to a meeting. She is paranoid enough without knowing I talk about her behind her back. Well, that is how she would see it. I think this is how I use to look at it and felt guilty for any ill feelings toward my folks. Oh, but times have changed after losing loved ones through Hospice. Now I know without people like you this would be so much harder. So, I try to lend and ear when I can and so appreciate all that people share here.

So, here is a laugh. My Mom told me she never spanked me much. Which is true. She is thinking of starting(to spank me)!!! Some days, I think she means it!!
