CPOD is a rotten disease and difficult to treat as I am sure you already know.
Can you rub Vics on her cheas? Also sometiumes a cup of strong hot tea with a little honey and lemon or maple suryp can be helpful
mom should be having her treatments every 4-6 hours especially with the pneumonia.
does the coughing start after she has something to drink?
god bless
Hoep she feels better soon.
Vicks she put under nose (a tad of it). Finally I gave her phenergan so she would sleep. That helped.
Fever better. Pulse ox up from 88 into low 90. So that is good news.
Will insist on machine tomorrow when see Dr w her.
One symptom is lack of 02 to brain. She was talking ti Dad who has been dead almost 3 years. memory is really bad right now.

sounds like moms oxy is doing a tad better it will improve better if you give her those nebilizer treatments every 4-6 hours it will help with the oxy levels. my mom is on oxygen right now with low 90 levels still hovering at 90 without the oxygen for about 45mins then drops down to 89 thank god we have the oxygen at the house now i sleep better knowing it is here and she is much more alert and not as disoriented maybe you can bring the oxygen into the house it will cut down on any more er visits in the future if you need it it is there for you. god bless let us know how she is doing ok?
god bless
My mom has COPD also. I just wanted to add my support and also say that I agree with others. There should be no reason your mom can't get a script from her doctor for a nebulizer.
I had to specifically ask for one for my mom.
Will you let us know how the doctor's appointment goes tomorrow?
P
So, she had another treatment. Some blood work to see if CHF is cause for COPD or if the two are still seperate for now.
Today we get a machine w two meds for home use. So glad for her. Oxygen is mot needed yet. I realize it is probably next. However, it is believed that she is holding 6-8 pound of fluid in chest belly and legs.
Lets hope she cooperates ok. She will either feel better to be easier or feel better to nag me. Either way...going for feeling better.
I am sure as this progresses I will send out feelers as to what to do. Fealize she gave up lying in bed last year. Sleeps in a recliner. Cardio myopathy and complications causing CHF and much discomfort. I am so amazed she is still with us at 86 (recent birthday).
Thank you Folks. You are the only people I know to talk about these things.

god bless
Hoping her heart isnt backing up into chest etc...Time will tell.
Thank you for the notes. Will say how it goes in a few days.
Yes...glad for the respiratory relief!!

update us peaceful on moms improvements
god bless
If you let them shock her to restart her heart when she gets weak, she will be in severe pain when she is conscious.
Not sure if you knew this. Grandpop was allowed to pass quietly in his sleep so he would not have to be in such severe pain. It takes a lot of courage to offer this compassion to our loved ones. But the more dear they are to us, the more we owe them a peaceful trip to those pearly gates.
