Caregivers Support Group
A voluntary caregiver is a spouse, relative, friend or neighbor of a disabled person or child who assists with activities of daily living and assists those unable to fully take care of themselves. The challenges of a caregiver are unique and sometimes it's hard to find people to talk to who know what you're going through. Join the conversation and find others who...
It's the older people, they think my kids should stay 24/7 at the hospital. I don't think thats necessary.
I think people score love by amount of sacrifice another one makes. Not me, I know I'm loved but will not push or abuse that. But if one of my kids is in the hospital I feel I want to stay, but now I can't.
However, I guess I also believe that if a family member wants to spend their time sitting QUIETLY so that you can rest peacefully without them expecting conversation, and without them texting or making unnessary noise, then it's their time to "waste". If they interfer with your rest, then you should be able to ask them to leave with no hard feelings.
If it's a life and death situation, then my opinion is that one person should be allowed to stay in the room, and all others should be in a waiting room, with family alternating into the patients room.
That's exactly how I feel, but I'm a chatter box,,,LOL, so when I'm quiet my daughters want to talk. If I'm not talking or joking my kids make that sad," oh my God,mommy is dieing" face , so I rather they leave.

Oh men!!! My father, whines, screams, fights, sign himself out, he's nearly impossible, but when we leave him alone in the hospital, he behaves well, he loves to torture my mom. He needed a pacemaker, he sign himself out twice. The third time, I spoke to him lovingly, I said, dad if you leave again, I'm going to court to declare you incompetent. He said ok. The hospital is three hours away, my mom, my two daugthers and I, were going home for one night, and my oldest said, don't worry mom, he can't leave, I got his money, his clothes and shoes. I laughed so hard,,,,,so clever!!! I love Him and could not watch him give up. He got it, he's fine and happy and so are we.
