I started a discussion in Family & Freinds of Bi-Polar. It i long and complicated. The jist of it is I now have the means to leave my husband and step son. The thought is whirling around in my head. Leaving would be better for me and my son, but how do I leave people I do love, just can't deal with anymore? My depression has reached such a low, I don't talk any more. It's no use, I get interupted or argued with anyway. My oppion doesn't matter. We are a family divided. But my husband and step son don't realize it. They don't have a clue that I would even be contemplating leaving.

Dear Cat54, you say that you have the means to leave now, so I advise you to move forward and take that big step. Making a change is always scary, because we don't know what the future will bring. But by moving forward you will grow stronger and once again take charge of your life and your son's life. It sounds as if your husband and step son became comfortable with you and your son being the "under-dogs", and clearly their attitude towards you won't change. You got an opportunity to a better future now, and I really think you should take that step.

My good friend Kiddo is spot on ! How are you better off ? Only you know this. It's a very hard decision, and it is a painful one as well. I hope you can find a way to answer it. But no matter what you decide....you have the support of your Caregiver friends here.

you answered it yourself. you NEED to leave. it is never a good idea to stay in an abusive relationship. it doesn't matter WHY its abusive. you may want to post this in bullying support section or in an abuse place.

i hope you find the strength to leave so that you can live again and thrive again and BE again. it is NORMAL to be depressed if you are being subjected to any kind of abuse.

don't even say you are going. you need your photos and paperwork and small valuables like jewelry. pack enough to get by, you can purchase the big stuff at auctions (public storage auctions or the like, a few rooms of furniture for $100, it really is that cheap, just to get you by. its easier to leave and head for a warm climate than a cold one).
