oh, yeah, I call my smart phone a "dumb phone". Mostly because it does wierd things such as the screen going blank after a phone call and then the only way I can get the screen to come up is to plug it in. I keep threatening to get a iphone.....

I have been a member of DS since Feb. of 2007, so I am an old timer here in more ways than one.

Lots of friends have come and gone, and a few I have had since day one. I have to say that I doubt that I would have survived without the support and friendship that I found on this site.

As the months and years have passed, I have given lots of support and advice to friends here on DS, but I have to admit that during that time, I have received support 10 times over what I have given.

My wife is now under Hospice care in a nursing home, and life expectancy is very short, but even after her passing, I will continue to support this site and remain on as an active member helping others as best I can in their caregiving.

I hope you'll be a long time member and experience all the assistance and support that I have received over the years.

I don't know what I'd do if I had not stumbled upon DS a year ago.It was 5 AM on a dark morning and I was beside myself. The support and friend's I've found here have been a god-send.

I also try to help my fellow caregivers here. I'm no expert by any means but I know how hard this caregiving role is. It makes me happy to give back to all my fellow caregivers who have been there for me.

I am new to this group. Just reading some of your replies has helped my frame of mind. My husband has COPD. He has only 30% lung capacity, sleeps a lot and must use a wheelchair. He has also had open heart surgery and three back surgeries.

I, too, have a hard time with the learning curve of any new phone, computer, etc. It is so frustrating when they won't do what you want them to! And then you see a two year old using an Ipod!

Now that we are through the holidays, hopefully life will settle down. Wishing you each peace. Judy

Welcome to our group Judy. My husband suffered a massive stroke 2 years ago, he is paralyzed on his right side and in a wheel chair also. Sadly he had some brain damage as well. Before his stroke I never had access to a computer, my husband controlled everything in our house. I basically was like June Cleaver, lol. Well that's completely changed and I must say I get lost at times but I've enjoyed the new world the internet has brought me. I'm pretty much self taught so I'm still learning every day. It's nice to meet someone like me, ha ha. :-)

LOL! I tell people the problem with my smart phone is that it's smarter than I am ;)

I love my iphone my sons talked me into buying it after my 21 year old son was in ICU after his car accident it get a lot better reception so they could contact me in the hospital. Only problem it will dial people when in your pocket. So my husband got to listen to me vent as I chased my milk cow around the pen. We both go a good laugh
