Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
I've been in this relationship for 6 years and we have 2 children together. At the beginning of the relationship we started pretty rough. I was recently divorced, and he was a single man for 8 years (previously divorced). We are complete opposite. No one is perfect, but everytime things would go wrong, he'd leave the house for days, or verbally/emotionally abuse me. When i just wanted him to talk with me face-to-face as an adult. This has gone on for years. When he drinks, its worse. He gets extremely sensitive, negative and always brings up past hurts or issues. He's always told me that he will never marry me because I'm not worthy of that, that only his ex-wife deserved to be married to, that she was better than me and he wished I was more like her. This pain I've carried with me for years. Since being with him, my self-esteem has fallen, I don't feel any man would want to be with me because his ex-wife maybe is better than me. When it comes to finances, I pay for the majority of the household items, I always pay for the groceries. All we split is the bills. I'm tired of having this on my shoulder financially, mentally, physically and spiritually. I've asked him to join me in becoming a Christian couple but he refused, that in his heart I'm not worthy for him to lead me into Christ. Why am I still here? What would you do?

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

2 kids make it all the critical that you leave
no good man de-values his woman
no good man de-values the mother of his children
I do know that true Christians are aware that all are not worthy but that Jesus came for all
for a person to say that another is not worthy to lead them to God, that person scares the hell into me
run
You can't make anyone change. The kids are better off in an environment without abuse.
Ask yourself, "What is this teaching my children?"
I pray that you can be strong enough to make the right decision for you and your children.
let me tell you something- You think that you are strong enough to sit through
abuse. Your not. Will it affect you ? It already has. He is messing with your
mentality because he is a f------- up person that wants you to feel as f------
up as he does. Not worth it one second more.Like okay seriously- as far as
the abuse- put a plug in it. I mean realistically you have the 2 babies maybe you cannot up and get out today(mental abuse I consider even more damaging than verbal abuse). So you need to put a plug in this-from you absorbing it- like from today. Don't listen to him, Tune him out, do activities
in the home on your own-like start mentally signing out of this relationship.
Do this because you are sending messages to your brain that you need to pick yourself back up-re validate yourself to yourself-so start pumping into
yourself-love on yourself to the utmost.Positive affirmations to yourself.Get
back in touch with the healthy whole you. Self partner with yourself and
explain why you need to take a lot of time doing activities without him-build
back into yourself.Discipline your thoughts and dont let them wander astray.
Focus on the children. Keep doing this- then........................when you are good and ready-oh and you will be ready- for whatever you will be strong <3 Hugs
There is no way that I would allow myself to absorb the bs that he's trying to feed you to emotionally cripple you so that you'll never leave him.
The question is, are you willing to stand up for yourself and do what it takes to be in a happier place? Eventually, you will be happier without someone that devalues you to this degree.
Maybe if he sees you making positive changes, it might inspire him to do the same...
Praying for you!
2 children make it hard but it's better if you leave so they will have a happy home life. Think, they get to see the fighting now (and if one is a girl...)
While no-one is perfect, you can't make excuses for him. Verbally/emotional abuse, no one should have to put up with.
He's insecure and he takes it out on you. He puts you down so you won't leave him. If he wants to be with his ex wife (Which is crap), he should go be with her and not take it out on you.
My heart breaks for your situation. You have to be strong. Find yourself and believe in yourself.
