I too faced my pain while he ran. I am surviving and hope someday to have a true friendship with a man who appreciates my values and does not mock them.
and definetly on the power of believing in moving forward with your life.
Honesty and trust in a relationship is first with me.
This entire process has been very painful and it brought me to a whole new low that I didn't even know existed. I felt things I didn't even know I could feel.
But it has helped me understand ALOT about myself, my life, and my relationships with others. I know my weaknesses and strengths now. I no longer have guilt about my marriage falling apart. I accept my part in it and also understand that I am human and will make mistakes...but I have learned from those mistakes and I will NOT repeat them again.
Things I once took for granted and never accepted praise on, I now feel good about myself. The fact that I put myself through college, earned three degrees, worked full time to support a family on one income WAS an accomplishment. I've learned that I can be proud of myself, my work, and my accomplishments...not because somebody else tells me they are good, but because I BELIEVE they are good.
I am a loving father and dedicated to my family. I do all the chores and outside of those and work, the rest of my time was spent with my family.
I am not a quiter and I refuse to let other people control how my life turns out. I thought I was in love, but I realize I was in NEED to be loved. Through my own actions I subconsciencly gave my wife all the reason she would ever need NOT to respect me because I did not respect myself....not to LOVE me because I did not love myself.
Most of all I've learned that love starts from within. Healthy relationships come from your own happiness. You cannot depend on others to make you happy or you will never find true happiness.
While I was once at the lowest point in my life, I am now begining the rest of my life and for the first time understanding what it means to "live." My wife may be spiteful, she may cause me some more hurt one day, and the journey to this point has been rough, but I am thankful it happened to me because I am changed forever.
I know that "it's a long way down to nothing at all". At the bottom of the pit I found despair but also met a Friend. He is now helping me on my way up, and I can already see a dim light in the distance,
I know it feels like I have been hurting for what seems to be an eternity. But at least I feel, and one day I'll look back and see that He was right - that moment didn't last,
I know I dropped my precious bundle - my pride, my values, my "self" - along that rocky road to carry the burden of another. When I was kicked in the face, He wiped the blood off my face, placed my bundle under my arm and sent me on my way,
Most of all, I know He was right - love is everything. If you have nothing left in this world, but you have love, you are the richest human being in the land. I know I own that much.
I know I still have a long way to recover from loosing my life. I've spent the past year trying to reclaim who I was inside and I'm almost there. I think the rest will come more easily.
I have come to terms with the lies told about me by him because they simply are his attempt to feel better and look better in everyone's eyes. It cannot alter who I am because I am none of those things he claims. He can lay the blame at my feet from now until eternity. I was and still am a loving, faithful, caring woman who gave it all. I have regained my sense of self. I couldn't ask for more.
