The anxiety of just going to the movie alone for the first time is the only problem. Once you do it, realize that no one cares, it's a great feeling.

I have gone to the movies alone, out to eat alone, put my cat to sleep alone (well, the kids were with me, but they were young) and this is all while I was married. I know what you are trying to say in the post. I'm sure I do many things alone and I just can't think of anything in particular at the moment.

Truly, no one cares. They are too busy thinking about themselves.

I have kind of the opposite problem. I have to make myself do things with people - which I don't do - as I could be very happy living alone. I look forward to finally doing what I want to do without worrying what she is going to say or try and make me feel.

I realized just the other day thet I have not played Basketball in over 20+ years since she pulled up to the court when I was playing a pickup game and told me to get in. Maybe I will play basketball again!

Ever since I was young I have traveled alone a lot, so I have done everything: eating alone at a restaurant (I hate it!), going to the movies (not so bad), going on planes, buses or trains (it is a great way to meet people). Once I went to a bar alone. I met a guy. Bad story. Although his gay brother was really fun.

I have gone to the movies (Twice actually) on my own. I got a huge tub of popcorn, a gigantic coke and whispers. I didn't have to share them with anyone!

I haven't gone to dinner on my own though.

I have always been independent and when ever we did things together, they were usually things I would do on my own anyway, like shopping. (not a very exciting social life)

I have really gotten to like my own company. My saving grace is a book. Whenever I am in a situation where I am going to be alone, waiting for someone, etc, I read my book. That way I have something to do and I don't feel like a lost fart in a bubble bath!

The trick is to get comfortable in your own skin. That way you reflect confidence. It's not a bad thing to do things on your own, I think it's a great trait of the women (and men) of today.

Stand proud, take the plunge and just do it. The first time might feel awkward, but you'll soon relax.

I just thought of something else, use an ipod. Shove the earpiece in your ear and hey presto, your mind's focusing on the song and not on your state of "aloneness".

My best friend was always willing to do anything with me... but now she's big preggers and doesn't want to go out much.

So I guess I'm going to have to venture out alone for the first time.

I'm actually quite nervous about it. I've never done anything alone. At least not entertainment things... movies, going out to eat/drink, I've always been with someone.

I could really use a movie tonight!! Maybe this will be my first venture!!! Eeeeekk!

I kinda did things alone before we separated that it's really no different.

Like Martingala, I've traveled a lot alone so I am pretty comfortable w/things like going to movies or out to eat alone. I bought a house alone. I have done a lot of home repairs alone. I drive 1000+ miles to see my family alone w/my 3 children at least once a year. This year I'm taking my first non-family trip alone with the kids: to SD to see the Badlands and Mount Rushmore. it's only about 9 hours away. THEIR idea; they are researching and planning. So cool. I'm so excited!

Live... life, just about everything alone...but it's not so very bad...

I bought a car alone and a house alone... I do all the yard work alone... I go shopping alone... I go to movies (rarely because of the kids) alone. I am Ok doing things alone. I want to take a vactaion this summer alone, actually I am looking forward to it.

That is a good question. I am at the point right now where the thought of doing anything alone, terrifies me. I end up hybernating in my house. I know it is not a good habbit and I am hoping in time it will change.

I have been living alone for over two years now. I still go do things but it is rarely with another person. I did not want my life to end up like this but here I am. It is not so bad now that I have visitation with my kids. A wonderful weekend with them and I am ready for some "me" time. Living alone does take some getting use to I will freely admit. On the other hand, I dont have anyone nagging me (other than my mother) to do this, go there, get that. So I guess it balances out.
