I got active this year on DS here and I will be grateful to get a card.I'm sorry you feel this way...I hope in the near future, you find a reason to celebrate with someone special
the only time I had anything done "for" me on Valentine's Day (flowers sent to my place of business) was when, after several years of receiving nothing, I specifically SAID I wanted flowers - wrote down my work address and gave it to him 2 weeks ahead of time. If I remember correctly, I had to give him the name and number of MY preferred florist because he was such a derelict that he couldn't figure out how to order flowers himself.
Every other Valentine's Day, I was the one that coordinated and planned something special. Home cooked meals, little gifts for him, once I even went all out and took him to the oldest steak place here in the City - AND picked up the $350 tab for that meal!
The thing is Heave, it's not just the guys that get shafted on Valentine's Day. Often times, in a relationship, there's someone who cares more, and the other cares less. It's the one who cares MORE that ends up getting shafted, but that position isn't gender specific!
You get to go out for a fantastic meal, or make a great meal. Do something a little creative. Have fun with chocolate.. ;)
I am looking at doing nothing for that horrible day and have no one special to spend it with....So I say to hell with it!
After hearing your message I will call them off.
Your pal
Matt
it is so my turn to be the LCD
it feels like waiting on this valentines is like waiting on a root canal with no pain killer. that starts on friday and ends sometime monday mid day.
but end, it will
Two mths before my x and I split up....he didn't even bother to get me a card (I, of course, got him a card and even took HIM to dinner) then his excuse for not doing anything "you don't like the holiday anyway"---so THAT would have been OK except then (when I found his myspace...didn't even know he HAD one) I stumbled across the Valentines e-card he sent HER, the "love of his life". BAH---now I really hate the damn holiday! Maybe someday I'll get lucky and a guy will care enough just to buy me a card.
Thanks for listening to me rant..
The damn flower places jack them up 300% which is bullshit.
So for Valentines day I set a price range within reason and work out a gift that has meaning to it instead of a price tag.
Easy to do, no heck no fret

we would all die if we didn't have a holiday to spend money on, yeah right!
