Nope not bad at all. I’m single, and really don’t want to go out to dinner on Valentines Day anyway. It’s all how you perceive things.

It sucks. I hate being reminded of couples and how I used to part of one, too. I hope there's a blizzard and everyone ends up staying home having an ordinary evening.

Never got a Valentine card, Mother's Day card or even a birthday card. This year, I am going to give myself a nice Valentine gift. Something from me to me. hehehe. It has been 11 years since I left him and 8 years since he filed and got a divorce. hehehehe. Love it. Free to be me.

Staying home for dinner with my son. Putting a nice pot roast in the slow cooker and enjoying simple fare. My gift to self is therapy and divorce final for a Xmas gift to self. My valentines gift for her will be renewal if the restraining order against her.

I like the idea of a gift to yourself, Atpeace. Glad you have your son with you Ghost, best valintine gift of all. I understand that feeling 11, I also like your attitude ib7, your so right.

This is my first valentines since my bf of 3 years just left me. I’m devistated. I can’t get out of bed I can’t go to work. My head is broken. He was my whole life. Now this stupid holiday fml.

gymnast021 Hugs, It is hard, but you can do it. I told my girlfriend the same thing. Be gentle with yourself. And when you see him, smile, like a cobra ready to strike, turn around and walk away. Head up high. They are not worth the trouble.

It’s a stupid holiday anyway! I never liked it even when I was part of a couple. Just be good to yourself and remember that you are better off single than with someone who does not appreciate you. My little boys are my valentines!

There is no joy for singles :(

I've always loved Valentine's Day, even when I was single. When I was single, I used to spend the day at the spa, get my hair cut and maybe try a new hair color and get a manicure. I'd leisurely shop for a few things just for me. I'd by new art supplies, a nice cozy mystery or romance or whatever.

Evenings were either spent curled up on my sofa with a nice book, a really good glass of wine and a slice of decadent cheesecake, or bar hopping with single friends. In case of the latter, I discovered there were lots of single guys looking to get laid on V-Day and they were all ripe for the picking. Girls, you'd be surprised how many condoms you can fit in a tiny clutch and still have room for the items you need.

In other words, V-Day is what you make it. Make yours nice this year, no matter if you are part of a couple, a tribond, or single.

I like your idea Gutted, of the spa day, doing something for yourself. Plus that would be a good distraction. Sorry Gym for your pain, it will get better with time. Good point LabMom so much better on your own then in an unhappy marriage, that is the worse. Your rigth Atpeace they are not worth the trouble

My ex really never did anything for me on Valentine's Day so I guess it's not a big deal for me. Literally over the years I have one doll. He used to buy me V-day candy after they were on sale the day after Valentine's Day....

This year I am taking a page from Gutted's playbook (although I didn't know it at the time). I am taking a spa day/evening. I decided I will take the day to love myself.

I hope you guys have a nice Valentine's day for yourself. Don't let other's make you feel down about it. Make it about loving yourself.

Hope your story sounds familiar, I remember when we were dating, my ex did nothing for V-day. He didn't even want to go our for dinner, wealthy and cheap and no romance. But I take full responisbitity for marring him, the signs were there I just was in denial
I am going to book a spa too for V-day, we do have control on ourselves and being single, we can do what we want :)

Ah, the joy of not having to pretend it's a special day for "us". The peace of not wondering if he'd even remembered it was a "holiday". Honestly, him "forgetting" about Mother's Day always bothered me, V-day was no biggie.

I'm giving valentines cards/gifts to 15 of my little friends at school and making heart shaped chocolate chip tea cookies to share with my co-workers. My boys are too old (they say) for little candy gifts so just a Happy Valentine's Day emoji for them.

I'm good! It is what you make of it.
