I agree that it does not have to be terrible! I am also not in a relationship! So, I try to send a card to a few close friends to thank them for their special hearts and how they touch my life! I get away from the "couple" thing and focus on the beauty of our hearts. I remind my children how much I love them and I always get them something small that is special. In taking the focus off of me and not feeling sorry for myself, it turns out to be an OK day! I hope this helps!!!

Your right focus on others makes us feel better and I like you attitude. It is nice you have the kids and when mine were younger it was fun to be with them on any holiday. Getting older, they have moved out and have their own lives which means i did a good job. I do have good friends and they are a life saver, there for life unlike spouses

That's easy! I much prefer being single on V Day to being in a horrible marriage....going on 2 years since my divorce (wife left/had affairs) and I'll never look back. Learning to be single again and finding a lot of joy from it...happy Valentines Day to me!

That is so ture Star. Here is my take, number one being in a great happy marriage is the best, 2nd being single, 3rd being in a bad marriage. The 3rd is the worse as you have higher expectations being married, whereas when you are single, the expectations are gone and you have the freedom to do as you please...that I enjoy the most as I always felt I had to babysit my ex

I like the idea of having a “self loving” Valentine’s Day.
Still living with someday soon to be ex, with no love between us. I use to feel that Valentine’s Day with the flowers, cards, and dinners, was a day to show your special someone just how much you loved them. Guess not in my circle I guess. Or with ex.
Have been missing the feeling of being loved, and I’ve never loved myself before, I’m working on it.
I’m glad I checked in here. I feel I can turn this day over to me, and not feel I need someone else to love me on this day. Thanks

Val's day was such a hassle when I was married-the presents, the busy resturants, all we had to live up to and for one day that's so overblown when it's what we should be focusing on regularly. Heck we used to even plan all that stuff for going out on other days just so it was easier all around. Now single, I just ignore the day. If I remember right I splurged and picked up a huge sloppy pizza on the way home-that's all I needed. Treated myself to Seinfeld a nap and nothing else. To live in a constantly unhappy marriage is a living hell. To be single even though I'd rather not be is such a gift-I got myself back and I have control of my future. I'd call that a huge win!
