Well first off if I was you I would be at the sheriff’s office and tell your story to them. If he is pinching and other physical violence it’s abuse and against the law. Be strong in this for your child and that’s your job. It’s nothing fun but it is your job and no one said it would be like this so stay strong and don’t recant any of your story.

I won't recant anything I have proof. He never hit me but he has punched stuff in our home. There's physical evidence

I hope you have talked to a family law attorney. You should be able to get the initial consultation for free and it won't be necessary to sign a retainer. While there, I advise that you inquire about getting an order of protection. You don't have to go through with it, but I advise you to get the information anyway, and the same attorney will be able to help you. He's an abuser and this is the most dangerous time for you. Be sure you talk to the attorney ASAP. There are benefits to filing first. Many of us have been there. Big hugs.

What courage! I am so proud of you putting the safety of you and your child first. I used to be involved in a relationship which was similar to this one and I didn't know what to do, so I stayed longer than I should have. I wish I had your courage at the time. I'm so glad that you are safe. You are strong and you have good survival skills. I would file a report just to document the rage. This will protect you just in case he tries to pursue you and the baby. You can also get a temporary protection order if you feel threatened. The dept of human services should be able to offer some resources and possibly a local church would counsel you as well. Praying that you will stand your ground and be encouraged that YOU will be provided for. God will not leave you and your child uncared for. Check your surrounding area for Women's Shelters and support groups to come alongside you! There is HOPE!

I just want to commend you on putting your child's best interest first here. So many times I hear about abusive situations where the mother stays with the father, even though she knows fully well about the danger he presents to her child. It's hard to leave that situation for ourselves, especially if our self-esteem is low and broken. But to have the courage to leave this for your child just shows how strong you really are, despite the situation.
I agree that you should file a report. Even if nothing comes out of it but a little stain on his record, at least if he gets violent in the future there will be record of a pattern happening in his behavior.

I wish I had your courage. I am lingering in an abusive marriage because I want to make sure my 2 month old has a shot at a two parent home. I realize, however, the chances of that are slim and I should have left already. Stay strong, you give others encouragement.

I am so super proud of you for being so brave and taking your child and even taking the pet too ( wow) There are too many cases/situations where the person is too afraid to leave and stays and it gets worse. I am one of those many that stayed. For my situation I think what if I left sooner where would I be where would the kids be ? Well I know the answer now and that is custody would have been shared and my stbx would have the kids around his family which is not in the kids best interest. There are good days and bad days and really bad days but I am finding me and what I like , I am just not a mom, someone's wife at one point, I am a woman that lost her place in the world as a person. In time it will get better , with every bad thought there is a good thought and you will learn to use the good thoughts to get yourself through the bad ones. You will be amazed what you find out about yourself and you will notice that you are a lot stronger than you thought you ever were. Hang in there you are not alone . Now I look forward to going home and not having the feeling of walking on egg shells, yes I run around and work full time but I am starting to be happy and feel safe and that is priceless.
