so, I dropped my youngest step daughter to school this morning because her usual ride is out sick. I asked her how her weekend was and what did she do. Her response, "I went to Tahoe for the weekend with my mom and dad." So, apparently my wife and the father of my youngest stepdaughter are back together. This is the same guy that she stayed with on her way home from a ski trip with friends because she got super sick and couldn't drive the extra 40 miles to make it home.
This is the same guy that she didn't stay with because he sold weed instead of getting a job. The same guy she broke up with 10 years ago because at 34, now 44 years old STILL lives with his parents.
I texted my wife, "So, I hear you and (insert loser's name) went on a weekend getaway, hope you guys can work your issues out this time." Her response was a simple "thanks."
Funny how up until last Friday she was denying that she's seeing anyone when she contacted to forward her her mail. What a shady bitch!

I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments. My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

but I agree with coop, people downgrade all the time because they need to be with someone who is actually at their own level.
Yes, my STBX has multiple kids form multiple men, luckily none with me.
Anyway, my step-daughter told me this because she feels a sense of loyalty to me and thought I should know. I very graciously told my step-daughter that I appreciate her keeping me informed, but I don't really need nor want to know what her bitch ass mom and that loser fuck are doing (I left out the bitch ass and loser fuck comment).
Hey sorry for the foul language, I'm not normally this vulgar, but I'm pretty pissed at the moment.
I agree on the boundaries. I have told friends I don't want to hear about her new guy or what they are doing together. It is a little harder for my 11-you son to respect those boundaries, but we are doing the best we can.
Good job gently (in spite of the internal invectives in your head) letting your step-daughter know your boundaries, and it sounds like you have a good relationship with her and that she recognizes your commitment and character.
My response was "That sucks"
you are really really fresh from this break, so just be careful here.. remain as NC as you can
She texted me later that night, "I know you don't like me right now, I don't like me but I made my bed right?" She then asked if she can have one of our sofas and 1 of our LED TVs. She said she doesn't care which sofa and which TV I give her. Her words were, "May I please have..." When I told her which sofa and TV she can have, she replied, "Thank you very much. I really appreciate it." I almost felt bad for her, I said "almost."
She then texted, "Please don't give up on the girls, you are the closest thing to a father they've had and I want them to know they are loved by someone, not just mommy. Even though I split up our family, they need to know you are still there for them."
My response, "You're welcome and of course I will never give up n the girls." I kept it short and she replied with a simple "thank you."
I knew something like this would happen sooner or later. Anyway, I am not going to offer her a place to stay. Where she lives is her problem, but if things get too hard for the girls, I'm more than willing to take them in. They are innocent people with a messed up mom.
