I love calling the house and getting her on the phone, her wee voice sqeeks and for that brief moment all the pain goes away and my heart fills up.

I know a lot of folks on this board are hurting I hope you find what I found to help take the hurt away if it's just for a moment.

TML, I remember being thrilled to get my dad on the phone. I'd just say I love you daddy... I meant that and I still do.

thank you for sharing TML ...i have a daughter whos 16 and lives 1,260 miles away. I try to talk to her but she cries each time and it's hard to be away from her, I can understand how joyful it must be to hear her voice..:)

i wish my X was like you.....after 7 months he got the chance to speak to his 18 y/o son after i begged him to call him....and he messed up 2 minutes into the call so my son hanged up on him

@Joy,My wee lamb is 6 .......turning 7 in January. Once I caught myself saying ....."I wish I never met my wife and I would not feel this pain",but you know.....I would never had my kids and I could never image my life without them.....and this pain I have .......it will pass :)

I have an 8yr daughter...just when I want to say"I justed wasted how many years?"...I think of her...Thank freaking god......I didnt waste anything...life is lfe....

Our kids are such a gift to us, and they make the whole fiasco of the marriage worthwhile.
I even love it when my adult kids just call to check in and see how I am doing.
It is wonderful to read about you dad's who appreciate your kids and your daughters so much. My ex sadly totally messed up with our daughter and so has lost out on the chance of a good relationship with her. He just has to be grateful that his sons still like to spend time with him even though he did not show over much interest in their lives while they were growing up.
Good for you dad's who care about your kids - please don't waste the chances you have to be in their lives.

i have the best 3 sons in the whole wide world...they are my best (and only) reasons to want to get better, they are my true gift from heaven. you are all right, our children ARE the only reason those 20 years wer worth it....
