I guess you mean you would do it for the right person??? I am afraid I would too but may hate myself for it later!! After I ws stuck with the Brady Bunch!!

It isn't selfish to think about what you want to do with your life. Accepting new children into your life is a serious question you SHOULD be asking yourself. I wish more people would care that much. You would need to think about whether you are capable of doing so and if this would be beneficial to you, and this wonderful new man and the children. Once children are in the picture...things should be analized thinking in everyone's best interest.

I can understand thinking about this topi. For some of us, we look "dating or relationships" in the realm of looking for something we want to last, not just a he thinks I am cute and this is fun kind of thing. So those types of scenarios will cross some of our minds when we are looking for a mate if we meet someone worth checking in to that has children.

I cant add much more then what broken, JJ, Jules and others have said. If the connection is there and things were at a level of seriousness, your feelings/thoughts might be different.

As for me, it doesnt mean a hill of beans to me. I want kids myself, so I think of it as a bonus in many ways.

I understand those who do not have kids or still have small children but once you have been there and done that and kind of look forward to having me time again (until the grand kids come, that will be a blast!) it would be a major decision to go back to being a full time parent. Teenagers don't get in your way unless they want money otherwise they try to avoid you! 7 & 8 year olds are another story. Don't know if I would have the energy or desire to do it again. Time will tell I guess. Who knows what God has planned for any of us????

Yes, I would take on the responsibility. Kids would not make me "run" away. Having kids wouldn't be a determining facter for me.

My x had 2 boys. When I met him his wife had full custody. She was troll and he ended up getting full custody of them. I accepted them as my own. I never wanted someone who wanted kids, but it just felt right. I have a kid, so I couldn't be selfish and not date anyone with kids. I knew going into the relationship that he was getting custody didn't stop me. Not that you're selfish, please don't take it that way. Was just my thought.. To each their own, do what makes you happy.

I understand where you are coming from & I respect you for thinkin ahead... even if this never becomes an issue, at least you have given it some though...
Most everyone knows how I feel about my tacobell babies... While it is considered a babysittin job, in reality, I raise these kids 6 days a week... I have the kids more than the parents... It's me the oldest two run up to waving a paper, exclaiming that they have all green monkeys... It's me the school calls when one of the kids get sick...
These lil kids are wrapped around my heart & I know they feel the same for me cuz they tell me...
If something happenes that I'm no longer their babysitter, I know it's the 4 of us, that will be affected... I love kids, but I don't know about datin a guy with young kids, cuz, like the tacobells, I get too attatched to lil kids, way too quick!!!
If things don't work out between me & this dad, then, I would have no right to visit these kids... Simply because the father & I chose not make "us" work out, the kids are pulled away from yet ANOTHER woman that cared for them & them her...

I don't know what I would do & I hope the situation never comes up...
