Is sex addiction a real thing and is there help for it?
My ex (of almost 2 yrs) recently cheated on me with a former sex-partner (i cannot call her "ex" because they were never together), because we only had sex once in a less than 3 wk span, which was not the norm for us. But it was because we moved, he is working 2 full time jobs, I was working and in my last week of classes, and sorry for the personal info but I had my cycle followed by a YI. There was a lot going on on top of our schedules not colliding. He told me at the start of our relationship that he was a sex addict but we never had issues in that area until recently. He said he was trying to reach out to me, which is true, and I wasn't meeting his needs. I am now feeling guilt and blame for this and I hate it. It was less than 3 weeks! And I wasn't getting any either but I didn't go and cheat! He literally left the house to go to "Walmart" and came back an hour later. The girl contacted me on Facebook to tell me and he admitted to it the next day. Sounds crazy but I know without a doubt that this man loves me and would do anything for me but I am so shocked and hurt that this happened!
Is sex really this meaningless to guys?

I don't think so.
Whether or not sex addiction is a real addiction or simply a uncontrolled compulsion is still the subject of controversy. Either way, if he is not willing to seek therapy to help change his behavior. Toss him out. Too many deadly or permanent diseases out there to take the risk.
And no sex is not that meaningless to all guys. I've had more than my fair share of 'hot young offers', Even in my current situation reply with the same line " I came out to have fun. I'm not interested in sex". Like Jamie, I recognize I'm too messed up right now to have much to offer in a relationship. Not even remotely interested in one-nighter's. A hug for sure, but that's all.
I was thinking, don't worry, I have a condom on. I can stay in all the way without worrying about a life of misery. Hehe
