I would like to know what it feels like to get rid of most of the material "stuff" in my life. I'd keep some clothes, my wallet and my pogo stick...a fresh start would be nice...

It's kind of like having the weight taken off your shouldes. But I am a believer in suffering hard and fast...you feel better quicker...

we just downsized and I donated so much furniture and three appliances and all the things we accumulated in 4 years we didn't need. It was a good feeling at times and hard at other times, but since the move to this house, I feel like I could still get rid of more things. waiting to see what H takes when he moves out soon, though, then I will.

I enjoy having only the things I truly love out. I don't miss the extra cleaning of a huge house. I don't miss having TONS of flower beds to mulch. Simple really IS good. :)

I guess it depends on how you approach it. I left my ex with little.
I had oone opportunity to pack up some stuff, he'd changed the locks the weekend I left..

It was hard at first, but freeing in some ways. I don't have a lot, but I don't need a lot.

Harder for me was losing my car in the divorce. I had to buy one in a hurry and now I have to watch every dollar. He walked away with that car, but he also walked away with all of his debt. If I do the math, I came out pretty well.
I just have to let go of that car. I made every payment on it..

Last year I was shopping as a pick me up/distraction.
This year, I have hardly spent a wasteful cent.

I have thought about this stuff a lot.

I realized that for all I have, I could , if forced, prioritize down to a surprisiingly small amount of stuff.

In fact, simplifying my life is a goal for me this year.
