I was home with my two year old...scared to death. My heart goes out to everyone affected by 9/11.

You know I was going to post on here and ask everyone how they were doing 6 yrs. later and if everyone was moving on. I have to say, having this day entrenched in my brain for the rest of my life will happen. God bless those who saved others from there, and for those who lost their lives, may God have a better plan for you. Also, for those family members of victims lost, may God give you the strength to move on and continue living.

I was feeding my barely year old son his breakfast when the phone rang, and a hysterial voice on the other end telling me to turn on my television. I can't begin to describe my emotions..mainly fear.
My oldest daughter was in Army boot camp at the time, stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. My brother works for the National Security Agency and was to have gone to the Pentagon that day for some sort of meeting. It was cancelled.

My heart goes out to those that lost loved ones, and I thank those who serve this country. AND their families. We live in the greatest country in the world, and I'm thankful to those who continue to defend it. May God bless you all....

I was at work our other office was located inside the 1st twin tower to be hit. My boss who relocated from New York came out in tears and told all of us what had happened and to go home and be with our loved ones. The tv that was on in the lobby and msot stopped to say a prayer before leaving.
I lost 3 collegues and a very dear friend lost his daughter who was an emt
I will spend today counting my blessings
Tomorrow is not a guarentee

I didn't personally know anyone involved in the 9/11 tragedy, but my heart goes out to everyone who was hurt that day.

I had people indirectly impacted by 9/11. My step father works as a consultant for the Department of Defense and about 1/2 the time he is in the Pentagon. Luckily he wasn't working there that day, but he did loose some friends.

I agree with wistfuls thoughtful post. Politics aside...that day changed the face of America forever. My thanks and prayers go out to all the heros and families of that day, and to those protecting us now from another one like it.

I was in Germany with my racing team and it was in the early afternoon when we heard someone yelling that a plane flew into a building in NYC. We all thought it was a small plane and was an accident. Everyone was getting their offices organized and the TV's were being delivered. When ours was finally connected the second plane was going into the building. We were immediately given police protection as we were told we were the largest civilian contingent in Europe at that time. (over 700 teams/members/staff - Champ Car) We were guarded in the paddock by Polizi with Uzi's and it was quite scary for a while. I remember that some of the driver's were delayed as they didn't have to be there for set up and there was a huge scramble to get everyone on private jets the next morning to get there. My husband was to fly to his last race (IRL) and they ended up taking buses only to turn back around 1/2 way there when their race was cancelled. He was going to fly to Eurpoe and meet me at the next race in England - but that all fell apart.

Our hotels were guarded. Our buses were guarded. Security was high! One of my guys forgot his ID in his toolbox and the next morning got booted off the bus until we could retreive it and get him in the paddock.

We had meetings every morning because we all wanted to go home and not have two weeks without our loved ones. A lot of folks were worried about friends and family and we could not get thru to anyone by phone for the longest time.

We had to go on with the race. They had a lovely tribute prior to the race and the German people could not have been kinded. The race itself was tragic and that is where Alex Zanardi had a horrific accident that left him legless. That team was in the garage next to mine and it is amazing he survived at all.

After the race we went to England for a week. There was still high security but it was easier to get thru that one. It was an experience that brought us all closer as Americans and as human beings.

I remember stbx & I were driving to a pool supply store when we heard about the first plane on the car radio. We ended up stopping at an electronics store just to see their tv's and what was going on. Seems lots of people had the same idea, because before long, there was a crowd of people just standing around the tv's in silence.

I didn't know anyone personally lost that day. I can't even imagine dealing with such a horrible thing. My heart goes out to all who were affected.....

I was out of town working in one of the tallest High Rise Bldgs in Minneapolis. We all turned on TV's and radios and watched the 2nd Tower be hit. Eventually, Management closed our bldg and I headed back to my Hotel (also a High Rise) and watched the horror for days afterwards. The Mall of America closed for fear of being a target along with most other business's. I was unable to get home until the following week...no rental cars or flights. As a roadwarrior, that was such a weird experience, no airplanes for 3 days afterwards. A day I will never forget!

OMG that was such a sad day!! I pray for all the people that lost a loved one on that day and all the people that felt the pain and sadness which is probably all of us. May God one day blesses earth with peace. May all the troupes and people in war be safe and return home to their loved ones. May this memory remains just a memory and never ever happen again. May God saves the innocent and forgives the guilty when they repent. Thank you for posting this.
