It's 1:50 am here in So. Calif,was reading some of the posting on DS and eating Ben and Jerry's Everything But ice cream. When I got this urge to see my son. I walked into his room and just looked at his handsome face, brushed the hair out of his face,kissed him on the cheek.I think only a parent knows that feeling, the one that is overpowering, the love the adoration, the wholeness you feel for your child.
I guess I saw a post regarding 9/11, my heart just sank , as I could not imagine the loss that so many parents, brothers, sister,aunt & uncles even spouses, felt and are still feeling especially today. So take an extra long look at the ones you love today,make sure you say something nice, enjoy every breathe that is taken today, JUST BECAUSE YOU STILL CAN..

My heartfelt thoughts go out to all of you that have lost someone that you loved on this day. And also to those here at DS that are suffring the loss of losing someone for any number of reasons. Just remember that you did get to love that person even if it was for a short time..
BE SAFE AND BE STRONG MY FRIENDS.

9/11 Many of my friends died in an aircraft, they were not passengers but people like you and I who go to work every day... Captian, Co-PILOT, and the Inflight Agents,

After 9/11 many of my Boeing friends lost their jobs, due to the fall out of 9/11, ENGINEERS could not get a job in aerospace.

Airplanes were all grounded in SFO, I was on my way to Germany, the aircraft was turned back to SFO, and the airport was crazy running k9 teams, FBI. I never saw anything like it. I was on the first aircraft to leave SFO to head back to SEA, and it was just myself the captain, and many government employees, FBI, FAA, DOD, DOT...

Sad Sad Sad DAY.... GOD BLESS ALL MY FRIENDS, and all of you.

a sad day...i didn't know any of the innocent....it didn't truely hit me hard until today when a new found friend told me that she had lost six friends that day. that brought it home for me.

I will never forget 9/11 I was unemployed at home watching TV when it was interrupted that some idiot flew a plane into the side of a building.... I thought how stupid.. until the second plane did the same thing... and then the thought was... OMG what is happening... I immediately ranout to pick up my son from daycare and I hugged him tight....

So scary.. I watched the two buildings collapse.... I have Reiki and I sent reiki all day to the site and the people there... I got really sick from taking on too much negative energy without protection... but god bless those who helped and a special hug and blessing to everyone who has touched by 9/11..

May we see peace in this lifetime... we are such a rich and intelligent nation and continent and yet we somehow can't find world peace.....lets everyone pray for peace and understanding......

My cousin Tim was one of the 343 Firefighters to lose his life that day. He has never been identified. Being a native New Yorker our family was fortunate that we only lost one member. Three other relatives from my fathers side of the family were to be working in the Towers, the reason they weren't there? One was having oral surgery and the other two decided to take the day off.

I was not hit personally by this day but I was hit emotionally for those who lost friends, sons, daughters, spouses, neices, nephews... May God truly bless all those that lost love ones on this very tragic day. My prayers are with all of you.

I am so sorry for all who have lost family and friends in this horrible tragedy. I cannot imagine the heartbreak of losing someone at that time.

I am thankful to have my children safely near me. Prayers to all and cherished memories.

I was at work and watched in horror in the TV. My oldest son, the newly married, was in Kirkuk, Iraq. What a scary day!

I was working at home as a transcriptionist when my son yelled at me to come into the living room to watch the horror of it. It was surreal to me. Never thought anything like that would ever happen. Thought it was the beginning of the end of the world. 9/11 is also my anniversary (almost divorced but today is my 19th anniversary).

iwas at work and i was a systems manager so in the computer room,my office we have internet and like 6 stations and my mother set me an email and said did you see that plane that flew into one of the twin towers? i went straight and got on cnn and OMG i told everyone in there what was going on and everyone went and was watching on the internet, i called the manager and everyone that was out on the floor that wasn't in their office back up her and everyone was in my office watching and then the other plane flew in to the other one. so they leaked it to the 400 people on the floor and it was a mad house. some people crying and very sad but for the most part people were mad as hell. if they could have got their hands on that bastard and his fellow cohorts they would have ripped them to pieces.
god bless everyone that died that day and everyone it touched.

I remember watching it live and knowing before most of the population that it was an attack. The day after I went by the Pentagon, still in flames and smoldering That afternoon I drove to my parents in up state New York and when passing the city just remember watching the smoke rise and knowing this was about to reshape America. Passing the train stations along the way with cars that had flowers on them as a tribute to the folks that would never come pick them up. As a Military Officer I am proud to say I serve and now a days when I travel it is very common to hear people thank me for my service...it is always appreciated and reminds me of the many men and women overseas living in hellish conditions and doing what they have to do. It also reminds me of the many spouses back here and the kids who deal with so much while we are away. As someone who has been to literally hundreds of countries I can honestly say and mean..."I love this country".

No one can forget that day! I was 9 motnhs pregnant and my husband is active duty military. I was at work (school administrator) when one of the parents called in an absolute panic to tell me what was going on. Immediately we switched on a TV and radio. I had an entire school full of children that I needed to protect. (I forgot to mention that I am a New Yorker) Parents began to pick their children up early, I had the school in lockdown. I could not get ahold of my husband at all for 2 days as He was in lockdown too,including the entire Army installation. Very scary..here I was a week away from my due date and about to bring my child into the world this way. It was nearly impossible to enter the gates of the installation for me to even get to my home. I ended up staying with my parents for the next week glued to CNN, crying, and still not able to reach my husband.

I was at work, when a co-worker came around and told us that 2 planes had hit the WTC... we thought she must have meant small stunt planes, or something like that. We all went to the boardroom and watched in utter disbelief as the towers came down.

I didn't lose a loved one that day, but so many people did, my heart goes out to them. And when I hear about people who should have been in the towers, but were spared for seemingly silly reasons (running late, lost keys, dental appt), it renews my faith in God. He works in mysterious ways, and it was simply not their time to go.

I put my faith in Him that these trials I am going through now are part of a bigger plan he has for me.

I was working at a place just outside of DC When I heard the Trade Center had been hit by a plane. We turned on the TV in time to see the second one get hit. We stared in disbelief. A short time later we heard an explosion and looked out the window and saw the Pentagon was on fire. Immediately I told my boss I was leaving.

I started driving home and was listening to the reports on the radio. Next I heard that in Sommerset, PA another plane went down. I thought OMG! I got home and told my wife what was going on, she asked me "What does this mean?" I replied to her that we are now at war. Later on I was called by my C/O and told that we are on alert.

I reported to my base and we started going on patrols. A few months later my unit was called up and off we went for Operation Iraqi Freedom - payback time!
