I am in the same position i have a stunning wedding set that meant so much to me and now it just sits there haunting me and i dont know what to do with it.

Mine is in a glass on my shelf. I had lost track of it for awhile. Honestly I do not know, I had thought of melting it down.

Through the wife's away. Ended up buying her another one. Put mine away. Won't ever wear one again. Brings back bad memories. Reminds me of broken trust and pain. It's a trigger I don't need. Like anniversary's, birthdays, Christmas. I just got rid of them. I don't celebrate them and I'm fine with that.

I enjoyed reading everyone's responses. Agree about saving for kids if that feels right to you. I have a wedding set and also a single diamond band. I am wearing the single band now when as we are in a bad place and wearing the whole thing feels wrong. If we divorce, I'll probably have to pay him some support for a while and I could cash in to pay that. Or I like the vacation idea. Would probably keep the single band for sentimental reasons packed away somewhere. Maybe wedding pictures too. I have taken down pictures of us at home and in my office and they are in a drawer.

I've been married twice, sigh. The first time I was married for over 20 years, we had 4 kids together. I kept that ring and will give it to my daughter when the time feels right. She is very close to her dad. My 2nd marriage, I was rejected and abandoned by the love my life after only 7 years. I have really struggled with this, coming up to three years since he left. I have that ring tucked away where I can't see it. It is a very painful reminder of my marriage which I thought would last forever. As I continue to heal and get stronger my plans for that ring is to sell it and do something fun with the money, I see no reason to keep it. I am still not able to take that next step. Someday!!!!

I stopped wearing my engagement ring years ago when I felt in my heart that he was not in the marriage, had no interest in being in it, but pretended he did. It stayed in different places until this summer when I officially packed it away with a little cash I had on hand. It's in one of two places, I don't remember without looking. Next summer (2018), I was thinking of selling it and taking a trip to Hawaii with the boys. My youngest is graduating from highschool. I wouldn't tell them how I financed the trip. Actually, it probably would only cover the plane trip. Maybe instead I'll pave the driveway, another home improvement project he never wanted us to do. Whatever I do, it will be something I can appreciate, directly involving NOT him. The band is cute, I'll have the etching scratched out. There is no more "for you, forever". That was a lie.

He stopped wearing his way before I stopped wearing mine, about 15 years ago. I told him it bothered me a little that he wasn't wearing it, he didn't care.

I'm not that sentimental. I got rid of my wedding dress not long after I got married. The Salvation Army was more than willing to accept it. It's just a dress, it was a bargain dress I could afford. The whole wedding ceremony, the pomp and circumstance, the stating of the vows in front of people, it's not my thing. It was a show and I'm not into showmanship. I would have done it very differently if I hadn't been so young and naive. Wait, if I wasn't so naive, I wouldn't have married him.

I did think about saving it for whichever son got married first, but then I don't know that they'd actually want it. Or that she would.

I still have it. I had to cut it off after 23 years. It means nothing to me.

Mine is in a lockbox at home while her very expensive ring is sitting in a safe somewhere. I'll never wear it but not ready to sell it. Its been off for 4 months after wearing it for 18 years and you can still see where it was on my finger :,(

Mine is tucked away in a safe place. I havent decided yet what I am going to do with it. Its only been about 3 months since we have separated so I am not ready to part with it just yet. Like CrushedDad says, if you look close enough you can still see where my rings used to be. However, I am slowly getting used to not having it on my finger but there are days sometimes I will think for a minute about how that used to be something that I cherished everyday. I just keep going because its all I can do and things have slowly started getting better. I can't say all my days are good but I just do the best that I can.
