I am wondering how many out there in this heartbreaking situation are over the age of 50? I am 57 (people say I don't look like it - right!) I don't feel it, have tried to stay in shape, etc. Anyway, the age thing has really caused me some stress - I can't believe I am this age going through this! No age is easy, I know, but it is pretty scary when you are hitting the 60 mark. I am scared to death that I will spend my life alone and yet because I can't seem to let go, time is passing and I don't know if I will every be able to think about someone else. Does anyone understand that?

Gosh, we could almost start our own club, the over 50 club. I am 53, and wonder if I will ever be with a man again. I want to. Maybe not married this time, but at least, a partner. Yeah being this old, it probably won't happen.

I think that once we have come to grips with the "death" of our marriage or relationship.....you know, when we are finally healed.... then yes....we can be happy...complete....whatever you want to call it....by ourselves. We CAN be happy alone. But it can also be lonely.

I truly believe tho, that once we are past all the pain and we have prepared ourselves for the next chapter, then absolutely I believe there is someone out there for me....for us all! I was married for 34 years....but now I truly believe that I can find happiness....but I'm in no hurry....I know that this person may be next door to me or across an ocean...I won't make the same mistake I made the first time....but I have faith that if I work hard on communication, respect, that a new, lifelong relationship is possible and actually a sure thing..

I am just like hurtheart1 I'm in my mid 40 and it all the same no matter what age. I feel like you hurtheart1 I was a prisoner in my own home. My husband didn't want to entertain any of our friends even children. Just people we didn't know. Probably people that didn't know how much of a big A** he could be. Why that is the guiltless person is the one to carry all the burdens?? I feel a little free now if I could only get rid of the depression. I think I will be alright it's only been a month for the separation...

If you think like that "Yeah being this old, it probably won't happen" you are DOOMED! Anything is possible! And a positive attitude is often all it takes to turn your life completely around!

Wow, this is one of my fears, I just turned 49 last month. I am fearful but know that I am comfortable with myself not that I won't be lonely I am sure it can't be too much worse than being treated with cruelty
