I can tell you why. First, like art, they are just pleasant to look at. They are full of life, they don't try to change me to fit their idea of how a woman should be because they haven't formed hard opinions. They aren't couch potatoes. They keep me current with what's going on in the world. They accept me the way I am, which is a little untraditional.
Now here is the most significant reason; Men my age don't seem very interested in me. I am guessing it's because I am not domesticated enough for most. I've also been told it's because I am "too self confident" and don't seem to "need" anyone. A lot of men my age want a housekeeper; a traditional woman they can take control of because they are set in their ways and have no desire to change that. Sad, but true. So I haven't met a man my age who I'm interested in who's interested in me. Maybe it's an unconscious avoidance behavior on my part that puts out that vibe because I'm afraid to risk it yet, and I know I won't get attached to someone that's not a realistic choice for any kind of long term relationship.
If a man my age comes along who's interesting and likes me enough to try to get to know me without just wanting to push me into the voids they want filled, I'd be willing. But it hasn't happened yet.
